Update 11/25/2019: I tried several times to reorder this kit and each time Amazon sent the wrong one, missing the control solution. I'll now have to go to a new brand and I'm pissed. Amazon doesn't care that they cost me time. So if you still order this kit, check to make sure the label says control solution is included before you open in. You are paying for it. My son needed two kits, one for upstairs and one for his medical bag. These are complete kits that include the control solutions. The control solutions are for whenever you suspect the test results aren't accurate. They are good to have on hand. It is recommend you test with a control solution whenever you open a new bottle of strips or suspect they were stored in the wrong temperatures. That's all the control solutions are for. I prepared both kits and tested each new containers of test strips so both kits are ready to go. The kits come with two containers of 50 test strips each, 100 per kit. So I only opened one container per kit. They tested out in range. The dates are good for a year and a half from now for the strips and one year for the control solutions. I tried out everything and was impressed by the ease of use compared to the name brands we've had previously. The lancing device in this one works so much better than the one in the expensive kit we had previously that the doctor gave us. Check out the prices on Amazon for the refills of everything, not bad. The storage bag is even better than what we used to have. Also, I easily added the date, time, and year on the unit. The instructions were straight forward. The two batteries included worked fine. This is the best testing kit we've ever had, and he's had to have three different ones previous to this kit over the last 6 years. Not sure what the bad reviews are about here. Just know if you buy with Prime and find anything missing, they will make it right (some people said they didn't receive control solutions). I'm most impressed and would buy these kits again. Writing this from My hubby’s account An untreated Diabetic condition can lead to severe health disorders.... My Blood sugar history Blood sugar - 120 in 2016 then with few extra pounds added to my body Blood sugar - 180 in 2017... started Metformin 500 Mg So Careless diet Frequent chest pains and Severe migraines Blood sugar - 230 in 2018 Skin discoloration, extreme eye dryness Blood Sugar - 395 in 2019 Finally severe UTI so Medication changed to 1000 MG Then after 3 months severe to very severe UTI and antibiotics treatment which developed complications. At this stage only I started using this kit effectively. There is nothing that the Metformin could do to us except for mild level of controlling. We need to keep a track on what we eat and how much we eat. This device helped me to monitor my sugar levels closely...just a prick and a little stain of blood is enough to measure your blood sugar. My appetite was already suppressed due to antibiotics and I could see my blood sugar constantly at 103 before eating and 130 after eating....iam eating only the right amount with sufficient intervals. Avoiding unnecessary foods that would spike blood sugar.... I reduced my Metformin to single dose a day and now no Metformin at all after a month. Just this diet control and low sugar fruits and more vegetables helped me to maintain the sugar. The A1c is 6.9 from 8.7. But whatever damage that has happened in the due course has happened with lot of medical bills. So prevention is better than cure. It’s been 3 months constantly usual sugar levels no medications. Tester kit: Very practical,easy,definitely brings you into a routine even if you are not a diet conscious person. Nice pouch travel friendly also u can have it organised without messing around. Any time you can check and know your results urself. There is 10 points in which you can adjust the needle pressure....not painful at all. Metformin and Insulin are not permanent. As a fourth year medical student, I went to Honduras last November for a medical mission trip where our university visits 3x/year, and sought to better access/provide care for diabetes in the local population surrounding the clinic. There were an estimated 16 patients with diabetes in the catchment area, so I shopped for affordable glucose meters and enough test strips to last 3 months for patients with uncontrolled glucose levels. These Care Touch Kits seemed affordable, and although using the testing solution to calibrate the meter was a little confusing at first, the kit satisfied our needs. Only thing is that I wish the instructions were also in Spanish (unless I didn't look hard enough for them) for our patients in case in-person training gradually failed them. I'm unable to comment on the subjectively perceived accuracy of the test strips since I'm the patients were distributed these kits to had unknown baselines.

Been using the Care Touch Meter for a week now. Every test I've taken this past week was checked against a test using my existing meter (Freestyle Lite) and every time the results were within a point of each other. Confident in its accuracy. My reasoning for changing meters is my insurance changed their co-pay, Freestyle test strips went from $15/100 strips to $30/50 strips. Care Touch strips are $20/100 strips. Changed to the Care Touch whose test strips are much cheaper. Recommendation for improvement; add a backlight to the screen, if not in an area with direct overhead lighting it can be hard to read.
