Modified on 4-28-2023 to a 5 Star review: The original review I rated it a 3 star because I had to modify the carb before it would work. I really think it should work out of the box. BUT, after using it now for 1.5 months I can tell you this carb works better than the original carb that came with my Cub Cadet. I stopped using this mower after just 3 years (I bought it new in 2017) because it kept losing power and stalling after using it for a few hours. I changed the fuel pump, the filter, drained the gas and put in fresh, all to no avail. So I bought another new mower and just let this mower set for 2 years. When I found out I could get a carb for under $40 I decided to give it a try. With the new carb the mower works great! I can now use it for 6 hours without any problems (I mow about 5 acres). The engine never stalls or lurches anymore. I am extremely happy with this purchase. Original 3 Star review: I purchased this carb for my 2017 Cub Cadet 22 HP Kohler 7000 engine, and it fits perfectly. However, when I hooked it up and started it I saw a lot of black smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe indicating the fuel mixture was too rich. I ran it with the air filter off to see if it was causing the problem. That is when I noticed the choke was not opening all the way, causing the too rich fuel mixture, I opened up the choke with a screwdriver and it ran just fine. That is when I saw that the new carb choke stop pin was too long. It was so long that it wouldn't allow the choke linkage to pass it. So it is a manufacturing defect. So I ordered another one to see if it was just a fluke. But the second one also had the choke stop pin too long. This pin is there to stop the travel of the choke plate when it is fully opened or fully closed. Since they made the pin too long (you can plainly see how much shorter the pin is in the old carb in the attached photos) the linkage gets snagged and gets stuck in the partially closed position. I had to use a Dremel tool with a cut off disk to cut the choke stop pin to the size of the old carb that came with the mower. After that the carb worked great! I mowed for several hours with no problems at all. So if you get this carb and have the same problems I had, look at the choke stop pin. If it is binding with the linkage then cut it back enough so it doesn't bind anymore. I gave it a 3 star review for this reason. If it worked out of the box I would have given it 5 stars. But if you are changing out a carb hopefully you have enough skill to cut off the choke stop pin to the correct length. It is certainly better to pay $35 for this carb than $159 if you buy it from Cub Cadet directly. So if you buy this carb, BEFORE you install it check the choke stop pin. If it is too long then cut it before you install the carb and get gas in it. It will make the job a lot easier.

Great for the price. Choke stopped working on original walbro carb. This one bolted right up after transferring a couple of things. Runs great. Is quality made. Gaskets were good and proper thickness.

Had to trim the gasket to clear the throttle. No big deal. Fits exactly as original. Once primed with fuel, started up perfectly and settled to a smooth idle. It does seem that that new carb has either a slower response or the fueling isn't spot-on. Running into a thick patch of tall grass, the engine/governor responds as it should, but it takes a moment longer for the engine to "catch up".. bogging a bit, but not stalling. Not as responsive as the original. It does, however work and fit as original.
