  • Good Value Windshield Repair Kit
Kit comes with 2.0 ml of resin, quite a bit more than other kits. The applicator design is the same as the Rain-X brand that I have used for years, except that it has metal female threads on the base. I'm not sure if the metal threads help with results, but it doesn't hurt either. I used it for the first time today on a deep 1.5" bullseye, the worst one I've ever had. It turned out better than I hoped, and my poor windshield will live another day. I had to apply resin 4 times to build up the chunk that was taken out. The last 3 applications were simply using a couple drops to fill in the hole, covered with the plastic piece. I live in rural Tennessee and travel many miles, so I have had damage to windshields many times. I'm obviously not a pro, but I've successfully repaired about 40 bullseyes and cracks over the past 10 yrs on several vehicles. Definitely do not apply UV-cured resin in sunlight. If nothing else, have someone hold an umbrella. The resin cures quickly, which means it won't flow into the cracks unless it stays very watery. If you haven't repaired windshields, read the directions a few times. It takes a few times to get good at it, but make your first experience a good one. Keep in mind that even the pros can't fix most damage without being at least a little noticeable. Some people have excessive expectations. A few tips maybe not in the directions: have several paper towels handy. Wipe excess resin off windshield after you are done with strips, then you won't have to clean the spills with a razor. Use disposable gloves (best to not expose yourself to resins in general, although it washes off well). Cut the plastic sheets to size, a little bigger than the repair. Store resin in a separate Ziploc (it can leak), as well as the plastic sheets in another Ziploc to keep from losing. Then put everything in a gallon Ziploc. ... show more

  • Could be better. Missing metal threads.
Time will tell if this worked. 1) On a large windshield (RV) it was hard to line up with the center of the chip. 2) The tube of sealant could use a longer tip. You can't see how much you using. 3) It is also hard to tell how much sealant is going in because the tube is hard to squeeze. 4) Lastly the product description stated it has metal teeth (threads) but what I got was plastic. • Fills in small chips in one application.
I like this product for how cheap it is to fill in small bull's eye chips in my windshield. I had 2 chips and 2 small cracks no more than a 1/4 inch in size on my windshield that I wanted to prevent getting larger even though some were over 2 years old. I figured I would try this one because it was cheap and highly rated on amazon. I followed the instructions which are pretty good with some minor spelling errors. Make sure you follow the bull's eye chips windshield instructions if that's what you are fixing. If it's a crack it has another set of slightly different instructions. The suction cups where very strong and even I had a little trouble getting them off. It's better if you have some longer nails to pry underneath the suction cup as you are lifting it up at the same time. There is plenty of resin to do maybe 10 applications. I've only done 4 so far with the recommended 4-6 drops per each chip. I will say one of the chips was pretty deep so I will have to try another application of the resin to fill it in even more. The deep chip I still see an outline where it was but the majority of the chip is filled. The small chips are completely gone and you couldn't tell where they were. I will say by filling in the large chips and wiping down the windshield I'm now seeing smaller chips since my eyes aren't distracted by the large ones. Overall very great product and would buy again. ... show more

  • Works well! With a small caveat.
TL;DR: Great product! If you are repairing a crack, look up tutorials on YouTube for better results (Search DIY Windshield crack repair) First off, this is a wonderful product. When I called my insurance company to ask about fixing a windshield crack, they were very quick to tell me that the crack had to be smaller than a dollar bill- otherwise, I needed to pay $500 to replace the windshield. Thanks once again, insurance companies, for making me sad. But then, I find out that for $10, I could do it myself! Sure, it's not perfect, but it's much better than before! Following the instructions for a crack that was included in the product, I cleaned the crack, let it dry out, and poured the resin directly and slowly along the crack. I then cut the provided plastic strips into thirds so that I would have enough to go the length of the crack (it was a long one!). After about an hour, I came back out, removed the plastic, and scraped off all of the resin. About 70% of the crack was practically invisible in the sunlight! The product worked as advertised for this section. However, the top of the crack still showed strong. I don't think that the resin made it into the crack deeply enough, or it might have somehow been pulled out whenever I scratched off the remaining resin with the provided razor blade. Anyways, this part of the crack is still visible, though it did stop it from spreading any further so far (as of 2 weeks). Recently, I saw some videos online of people using the included plunger (plastic thing with suction cups) along cracks by greasing up either side of the crack and sliding the plunger along. This seems to be a much more thorough solution, and probably would have gotten it all. If this could be included in the instructions, that would be great, although it is admittedly more complicated. I'm still giving 5 stars, because at the end of the day I got a usable repair and saved $490. Thanks, YOOHE! ... show more
