Perfect Replacement - Easy Swap

The Unlock button stopped working on our original OEM Driver 1 FOB for our 2013 Acura MDX. Upon taking it apart the button on the circuit board inside had broken off. We ordered this replacement FOB based on the reviews and it worked perfectly and programed easily. The whole process took less than 5 minutes. The buttons piece (that contain the battery and circuit board) on the replacement matched up exactly with our OEM button holes. Made it so we just needed to swap the replacement button piece into the original OEM case (so we didn't have to cut a new key or swap the key to this replacement) which was supper easy. Programming was simple (found a YouTube Video that walked you through it. There is also step by step in a review below that someone did). Don't forget to program this FOB and other FOBs at the same time! Put the key into the ignition. Turn it to position "II" (dashboard comes on) press the lock button. Turn the key back off (Position "0"). Turn it back to position "II" hit the lock button again. Repeat this process 4 times. On the 4th Time you hear will hear the locks engage. That's when you need to hit the lock button on all of the FOBs you want to have programed to your car - otherwise the other FOBs will be "forgotten". Highly recommend this FOB replacement. Easy programming and moderate key swap

I purchased this remote to replace failing buttons on the OEM key fob for my Acura MDX. Programming was easy and I got it to work after the second attempt (see instructions below). Rather than having a new key cut by a locksmith or dealer, I chose to swap the key from the OEM fob. The swap was moderately difficult as their is a small spring within the button mechanism that must be reset into place. Pay close attention when removing the metal plate holding the key and spring in place. One end of the spring sets into a small hole on the key and the other into a small hole on the metal plate. Set over button and lowly twist clockwise until the set screws align. Replace the screws and reattach the rest of the fob pieces. Given the cost of an OEM fob, it’s definitely worth the time and effort. Hope this helps. MDX Key Fob Programming Step1 Gather the remote for the vehicle on hand and sit in the car with all doors/trunk tightly closed. Step 2 Turn the original key to the ON position, marked by “II” on the ignition bezel so the dash lights come on. Then listen for a quiet click, and then within 5 seconds press the “Lock” button of new key on the remote for 1 second. Step 3 Turn the key to the OFF position, marked by “I” on the ignition bezel so the dash lights go off. If you hear a quiet click in the dashboard after turning switch to "I" then the entire process must be restarted. Repeat three more times (for a total of 4 times). Step 4 Upon the 4th turning of the key to “ON”, press the lock button on one remote, the locks will make a cycling sound (clunk), locks will NOT lock or unlock at this point, they will just make a noise. The system is now in programming mode. Do not turn key off. Press lock button 2 more times, and then press unlock. Step 5 Turn ignition completely off and remove the key. Step out of car and close door. The remotes should be programmed and work. If you have a trunk/hatch release, the button for this feature needs to be held for a few seconds before the trunk/hatch will “pop”. ... show more

Works like a charm

My unlock buttons stopped working on the original fob so I took a gamble on this generic replacement. Works like a charm! YouTube videos are a must before you start. Swapping out the key is a little tricky with the spring. Pay attention when you take it apart, it will help when you reassemble. Be methodical and give yourself time. Once reassembled, be sure to program both fobs. Using the new fob, turn ignition to “II”, press lock button, then turn it off. Repeat this 4 times. On the 4th time, the car will lock doors as confirmation. Hit lock button again. Then hit lock on fob #2 within 10 seconds to learn. Before turning off the care, test lock and unlock on both remotes. Works but description is misleading

This key was perfect replacement for my worn out 2009 MDX key however be aware that there is more to the programming than what is listed in the description. Yes you can program the keyfob by doing a quick search on youtube and the trunk button works. This just programs the buttons it DOES NOT register your key to the car. For that you either need to have the programming tool to do it or just go to the dealer or a locksmith for that part as the tool required to do this is pricey if this is not something you are going to be doing a lot. I found a great local lock smith that cut the key and programmed it to my car for just under $100 which was way less that what the dealer would charge. You do need the existing key to do this. And if you decide to just program the fob make sure you have all fobs there so you re-register them all. When you do the programming if you don't then the ones that did not get registered, even though they were before, will be forgotten. ... show more

Perfect Key Replacement
