This is a seriously handy thing to have in your car. My fiance ordered one for his car as a trial run because we both have always had issues keeping our cars clean so he decided to detail both our cars and order this for his car to try for a little bit before ordering another for my car. So he put it in his car which was super easy and it hangs off the back of the passenger headrest so it's easily accessible. We used it for a week or so and liked it so much that we decided to buy one for my car. It's not at all bulky or in the way for the person sitting behind the passenger (where it's located) and it holds quite a bit and it's super nice that it even came with bags. It's a piece of cake keeping our cars clean now because we don't have to worry about where our trash can go and if someone drinks a can in the car we don't have to worry about cleaning out a sticky can. Another bonus is that this little trash can doubles as a cooler. If you put in a clean trash bag you can fill it with ice and cool some drinks in it. It can easily hold 6 water bottles or a six pack or beer and all you'd need to do is detach it from the seat to be sure it doesn't fall on anyone's toes. It's super convenient because we go to the drive-in movies with our drinks in the cooler and then when we are done the ice is easily dumped out and it turns into your trash can using only one bag. It's seriously an awesome buy and I'm excited to get mine. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for an awesome tool for your car. And of course, the price point for both a cooler and a trash can AND bags in unbeatable.

I bought this trash can for a road trip. I bought it because it came with garbage liners AND could be used with regular shopping bags. This was super convenient! It was great to have a place to put our snack food wrappers and other garbage you inevitably accumulate when you're in the car for many hours. Things I liked: 1. The size is great! It was small enough to be moved around but large enough to hold quite a bit of trash. 2. The liners! I love that it came with a bunch of liners, but that you can use any standard shopping bag once the liners run out. 3. The liner clasps! It is awesome that the trash can has claps to hold the bag in place. So much of the time (in other trash cans) the liner doesn't stay, which is super annoying! 4. The material! It is waterproof/washable so when I got yogurt all over the side of the bin I was able to quickly wipe it down. 5. The Velcro and clasps! It's great that Velcro and clasps are included to secure the bin to the floor or the seat--whichever works best for your car situation. Things I didn't like: 1. The lid. I ordered this bin BECAUSE it came with a lid. But the lid does not secure when closed. What's the point of a lid if it doesn't have a magnet or clip to ensure the garbage doesn't come out? The bin got moved frequently on the road trip and it would have been nice to "lock" the lid before "tossing" it in the back seat. 2. The soft-sided container. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the material used for this bin (see the material in things I liked). It was easily cleanable and looked great! But because it arrived folded and is soft-sided, it always seemed to be on the verge of collapsing. It was annoying that it wasn't as straight-sided like in the product picture. All in all, I would recommend this product. I am glad I bought it and it definitely got used on our 10-day road trip.

After this last weekend, I would give this 10 stars if I could. When this first arrived I loved it. I purchased it to stay ahead of the trash game in my new car I just bought. As a trash can it is very sturdy and fits up against the back of my passenger seat within arms reach for me as the driver. It came with velcro but I didn't end up needed it because it was already so secure. When I have passengers in the backseat it sits between them on the floor and maintains a good solid form. It holds plenty of trash without being in the way. Now this next part of my review may get a little GRAPHIC so turn back now or just be aware. I showed off the trash can a couple times after I got it and each person made a joke about how, at its resting spot behind the passenger seat, it would make the perfect puke can. I rolled my eyes and said, people better not puke in my beautiful new car! Well, this weekend, it happened. A group of friends and I went hiking in the hot Arizona sun and one got affected too much by the heat. Not long after beginning the windy, turny, two hour car drive home, same friend complains she is feeling nauseous and worries she might throw up. The Drive Garbage Can was handed to her immediately. Seconds after she hurls. I was cringing for a variety of reasons... My new car! My new trash can! and Gross! When we stopped at a rest stop to dispose of the contents, I feared the worst. Thankfully the trash can came with very durable liners. When my friend threw out the bag we got another one ready in case she had a round two. Back in the car, there was zero indication of the terrible events that transpired moments ago. The trash can was ok, my car was ok, and my friend was feeling much better. I have no idea how bad that could have gone if I didn't have the Drive Can. I have a long road trip coming up and I plan to purchase another one for behind the drivers seat and I already know what that pukey friend is getting for her birthday this year!

Love, love, this car trash bag! I've tried a couple others & none of them stayed open. This is the perfect size for my front seat, & it stays open, even when empty (see picture). I use my own small trash bags instead of the bags that came with it, but that's just a personal preference.

UPDATE 1 YR LATER: Reached to unsnap the strap and the strap tore from me just pulling it slightly. When I tried to tie the ends together, it kept tearing. Nothing unusual or different than the way my previous bag was treated., which lasted years before the strap broke. The bag is good. The strap was weak after one year. I had an old velcro attached trash bag I bought from Walmart. The velcro strap holding it to the headrest was falling apart and it was so floppy that it was always closed. This one stays open in a box shape and has disposable liners to keep it from getting stained. The strap clasp is strong but easy to open. Works for me.

This car garbage bin is almost exactly what I was looking for! It is sturdy, well-constructed, and provides an excellent way for me to keep my car clean and tidy. My favorite part of the bin are the clips on either side which hold the plastic trash bag in place. There is nothing more frustrating than having a garbage bin where the plastic bag liner ends up all bunched up at the bottom! The clips hold it neatly in place until you are ready to empty it and put a new bag in. It came with 20 DRIVE trash liners included. Although some have said they had no problem using regular grocery bags as a substitute, I'll probably continue to buy the DRIVE bags because I don't have to replace them that often and they fit so perfectly and neatly in the bin. The only thing I had a tough time with, due to its larger size and my vehicle configuration, was finding the best place to put it. I wanted to have it up front but it was too big to put in front of my SUV's large center console (between the driver and passenger seats) or attach to the driver or front passenger doors. Since I don't have passengers in the back very often, I ended up attaching it to the front passenger seat head rest, facing towards the back seat. This has worked out perfectly because I can just reach back with my right hand to dispose of trash...not while driving, of course!

Previously I had an in-car trash bag that attached to the back of one of the seats. It worked fine, but was forever in the way and it had limited capacity. It was also kind of a pain to empty. Not so with this puppy! The DRIVE Bin XL is quite large, well built, and very easy to clean. For a trash can, I'm pretty pleased with this purchase. It is nice to be able to use plastic bags as the liner (just common grocery plastic bags, so it isn't like you'll have to pay for expensive refills). The lid is easy to use with a very large opening. You won't be fiddling around trying to put anything in, that is for sure. The one caveat I would note to prospective buyers is that it is BIG. It works well in my Honda Odyssey, but I'd probably not recommend it for a common passenger car (except for maybe in the back with the kids ... if you have any. Otherwise highly recommended.
