Description

The Mary jane tap shoe from Capezio is the perfect basic for any tapper. The leather shoe features a traditional buckle closure, a rubber skid pad for a non-slip grip, teletone taps, and a foam insole that will keep your feet comfortable and in control. Salvatore Capezio was born in 1871 in Muro Lucano, Italy. Uninterested in following in his father's footsteps as a construction engineer, he became an artist of his own right, a cobbler. In 1887, at the age of 17, he opened his shop on Broadway and 39th Street, diagonally across from the old Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. Soon, the shop became a meeting place for dancers who would stop by to discuss their needs and to get a pair of his shoes. As Capezio's popularity grew, dancers from around the world made it a point to visit him and purchase his shoes. The innovation of the products that Salvatore Capezio created and the camaraderie he shared with the dancers molded the direction that his company would follow. In this image, the Capezio brand was established to promote and recognize ongoing achievements and participation in dance. Capezio products remain in the forefront in quality and in technological advances with innovations like the split-sole, the stretch-insert, the Dansneaker and the Tapsneaker. Capezio believes that their success is dependent upon the individual commitment of each customer to continually set new standards of creativity and performance, while preserving a reputation for dependability and distinction. Capezio pledges their support and dedication to the advancement of dance, theater and recreation in communities worldwide.

  • They Fit! They Fit! They Fit!
Size: 9 Wide Color: Black
I have wide feet, so I was a little concerned when I started searching for a wide width tap shoe. I normally wear a size 8W, the widest part of my foot (around the toes) is 9 1/2 inches. For this tap shoe I ordered a 9W in black and it is a comfortable fit. I am so happy I found one that comfortably fits now I can spice up my exercise and cardio with tap lessons! ... show more

  • Excellent shoes, size up a whole size
Size: 5 Wide Color: Caramel
My 8 year old needed the next size in her tap shoes so I got a 3 and went with a wide width since she complained of the others smushing her toes sometimes. Well I ordered the next 3 sizes to be sure one would fit…the largest was the same size as her current ones. So I returned them all without difficulty and got the next whole size. They’re a touch big but we will deal with that since dance season is almost over…hope they’ll fit again next year! Good quality shoes. I do wonder why there has to be an actual buckle instead of velcro but she didn’t complain about it! ... show more

  • I have worn mine only four times and they are coming apart.

Mine are coming apart after only four dance classes.

  • Runs about one size small
Size: 5 Color: Caramel
Great tap shoes for my daughter. They run about one size smaller than normal shoe size. They are more expensive than other tap shoes but there are the highest quality and worth every penny if you plan on being committed to tap dancing.

  • I'm a beginner and this is my first pair, so nothing to compare them to but will comment on sizing
Size: 9 Wide Color: Black
I bought a size 9W based on Capezio's website recommendation to go up a 1/2 size. I normally wear a size 8.5M-W in street shoes, so 9W seemed the best option to try. Good choice. Not too narrow, not too wide, not too short, not too long. I will say that I wear Crocs about 99.9% of the time, so having a shoe that is more "fitting" is going to take a little getting used to. My toes are going to have to get acquainted with each other again, ha ha. The shoes seem well made (wouldn't expect any less from Capezio - bought their ballet and gymnastic shoes many years ago as a young child and they were awesome) and taps have a nice sound. Now if they could just dance for me like magic....LOL UPDATE: Exchanged these for a 9.5W and they are much better. The 9s were rubbing too much on my big toe. Tried on some other shoes at a shoe store to discover that maybe my foot grew from an 8.5 to a 9 at some point, LOL I am old and spent too many days in uncomfortable shoes back in the day to have hurting feet now. So maybe the going up a half size is correct and I was wrong in my assumption. ... show more

  • Buy at least 1-2 sizes larger
Size: 3.5 Color: Caramel
My daughter typically wears a size 3 in shoes, however, she couldn't get her feet into the size 3 at all. We got a size 4.5 wide, and they fit perfectly. Definitely buy a larger size.

  • Awesome tap shoes
Size: 8 Color: Black
I love these two shoes and they are great for my daughter who has been tap dancing for years. The dance store where we usually go was out of these shoes and I was very hesitant to buy online due to sizing, comfort and quality of tap shoes. They were awesome and just like I’d expect at the dance store. Would buy again! Thanks ... show more

  • Company does not refund total amount when shoes do not fit.
Size: 4.5 Wide Color: Black Patent
Ordered these from a different Amazon shop in a size 3, which is the size my daughter wears in all other shoes, and they were way small, weirdly small. Like, she couldn't get her foot into the shoe, even though I specifically ordered wide, too! Next ordered a 4.5 from this shop, and they were too big. So I'm not sure what's going on there, and we ultimately found shoes that fit her wide foot for only $20 at Academy sports. BUT, when I returned these too big $50 shoes, I only got a partial refund. I appreciate the ease of Amazon returns and don't usually hesitate to try things that I can return if they don't fit. So if that's you too, order from a different shop because you will be out almost 10 dollars for the privilege/gamble of trying on these tap shoes with inconsistent sizing. ... show more
