This printer is not idiot proof! If you are tech savvy you might be able to configure it right. My issue with it was not being able to connect to my router automatically so I power up the printer, press the network button until I see a moving indicator on the screen ( this means that it is searching for a network), then i go over to my router and press the WPS button. I think this printer has gotten a bad rap from other reviewers which is why I'm writing this review. I bought this printer on Thanksgiving day for $20 at Walmart. I had no problems setting it up by carefully following the instructions. I've had no problems described by the other reviewers. I did, however, have one issue that was easy to resolve. First, let me set this up for you. I have the printer on my wireless network so I can print from any device. The issue was that the printer would turn itself off after about two hours of inactivity. There is a setting on the printer that can be disabled to make the printer stay on and not automatically turn off. I changed the setting and have had no issues since then. It never fails to print from my iPhone 8 Plus or any of my computers. ... show more

    • Set up, but wouldn't print.
Ink cartridges were full, had startup disk, set it up 3 times, followed directions to the letter, but still wouldn't print. - It said "refurbished", I should have known better... I had to return it.

    • Zero Canon support
I've had the printer for a few years. Always has worked OK, kind of noisy for a printer. lots of snaping banging and popping noises. But it must be OK since it has done it since new. I usually buy ink cartridges from other vendors because Canon's are more expensive. They've always worked fine, some of them the printer thinks they are empty as soon as you put them in and it always gives me a low ink message. I don't care, I just print with them until they are actually out of ink. Yesterday, Canon "upgraded" the printer software and now any cartridge that isn't theirs and it doesn't recognize the cartridge as being a Canon cartridge with ink in it, it just refuses to print and will not allow me to print even with a new cartridge if it thinks its empty or not a Canon cartridge. Plenty of ways to talk to Canon about buying a new product and zero ways to talk to anyone there about their change in software. No help at all. For that reason I will never by another Canon printer, if they are that greedy, they don't need me as a customer. ... show more

    • Light use printer for those with the patience of Job.
That would not be me. :) Canon's support materials need help, if you can find them. Once you do, every step is an epistle and poorly thought out. Replacing cartridges can be a real adventure as success depends on whether the machine decides to recognize the cartridge. I just spent over THREE HOURS before a new color cartridge finally TOOK!! I am a light user or I'd replace this one immediately. There are much better options, and Canon's been knocked off my list for the future. ... show more

    • Not too shabby
I think that this printer is pretty decent for getting it used and for the cost I paid. It is working for what I purchased it for so I am happy. The only complaint is I cannot get the clearest print possible after deep cleaning and running different tests on the printer.
