  • If you buy this book you aint no Dummy!
Well initially I wasn't certain this would be the book for me, well I am pleased to say just how wrong I was. The book is well written and even more important states very important information in a concise easy to understand fashion that keeps interest as well as learning the camera It has the basics initially then goes on and builds the knowledge base. Great Book After completing the book a first time without (yes without) using the camera at each turn I am now super excited to re-read the book using my camera to reinforce all the tips and tricks I found in this publication. Not being a big instruction manual kind of person I am truly in awe at just how much I enjoyed this book and how much I am looking forward to now re-reading again. KUDOS to the authors. The only con to the whole thing is the shortcut they suggest to use to download the Cheat Sheet - on their web site, it doesn't work. The Cheat Sheet is far more than a sheet, but not a big deal ... show more

  • Excellent, comprehensive review of the Canon EOS 80D
I am reviewing the Kindle and Print version of the book. I have always enjoyed the Dummies series for many subjects. I had recently acquired the 80D, and I wanted to be able to work the camera to its full potential. Every function is reviewed, and the photographic examples are detailed. Although you can learn from reading the manual, there are practical tips and examples that just don't come through when reading a manual that you can learn from reading this book. There are extensive tips and shortcuts that help understanding the numerous functions of this system. After reading through the book, and then applying the lessons, I have been much less intimidated by the camera. As in any For Dummies series, there are icons for "Tips", "Warnings", "Technical Stuff", and "Remember". The writing style is clear and concise. Numerous examples are outlined in the book. A major advantage that I had with the Kindle version is that I can read the book from anywhere, on my iPad or iPhone. It is easily accessible in those times when I didn't pack the manual. Since I can highlight and add notes, I can quickly reference the information. If you're requiring the access of this book on the fly, I highly recommend the Kindle version. However, I do recommend printouts of the cheat sheet for the quick reference of various functions. ... show more

  • Maybe the best Canon 80D guidebook
This book is very well detailed, yet easy to read and learn just how to use all the advancing features on a Canon EOS 80D camera. Information is much easier to find than in the instruction book supplied with the camera, that book being very small in size, having small print, and not always connecting some instructions to others. I would highly recommend "Canon EOS 80D for Dummies" to anyone purchasing and trying to learn all about this camera model. ... show more

  • Still to technical for me. Oldie ya know
Book full of great info but tiresome looking it all up and trying to remember it all. A host of great information in this book though so will keep trying to follow. as a slow learner with expensive equipment.

  • Well worth the read.
Great as usual, I love these books and have always found them entertaining and informative, they are packed with all the information needed and lots of tips on what to avoid or watch out for. It is well worth the read and more than a manual on how to use the camera, As a walk through for setting up the camera before hand it is invaluable and a great reference for later. Buy it, you won't be sorry. ... show more

  • Great for learning your way around the 80D
This book is well written and explains in layman’s terms how to get going on the Canon 80D. This book admits that it briefly touches on how to use the creative modes on the camera and advises further education to reach full potential of the 80D. I have been a hobbyist photographer for many years and have learned a great deal from this publication. ... show more

  • You need this book!
Very easy to read and presents a complicated subject in a much clearer manner. It is helping me get the full capability and enjoyment of my EOS 80D. Super illustrations, hints and shortcuts for all major and minor items related to this camera. As far as I am concerned, this book is a must buy if you buy, or have already bought, the EOS 80D. ... show more

  • Definately not "for dummies". Way too technical for a beginner.
Probably could be rated 5* for someone planning to become serious about photography.
