  • Very Informative For Beginners
Format: Paperback
This book literally starts off as if you know nothing about your camera, which is fine. I was already an advanced user on it but my wife wasn't so I got it for her. I thumbed through it and it had a lot of great information in there, most of which I already knew, but it was new to her. Definitely not for the seasoned photographer as it's mainly basics of operation. ... show more

  • ANOTHER STELLAR "DUMMIES" INSTRUCTIONAL BOOK!
Format: Paperback
BOOKS are for me SOMETIMES much better than online guides. I find it somewhat easier to immediately go to my favorite page if I need to refresh my short term "sometimes less than stellar 'memory'!. HOWEVER, it is nice to be able to enlarge print and illustrations using the online content. So each has its benefit and that helps this old geezer. "CANON EOS 70D for DUMMIES" is typical of the series that covers virtually anything I need help in mastering. Ms. King has done a fie job of systematically going through the 70D and addressing all aspects that are VERY NEW to me (Digital) (ISO) etc. FINE JOB and a GREAT reference that refer to often. ... show more

  • Invaluable resource
Format: Paperback
this book is invaluable to gain a good understanding of this wonderful but complicated camera. I had a previous one for the Rebel Xsi and referred to it often. The book itself is well written, easy to understand, with good graphics and tips and warnings that the camera manual will not tell you.

  • Not Just For Dummies!
Format: Paperback
I've been taking photographs for 45 years, but have always thought I could learn more about the craft, so I've amassed quite a library on the subject of photography. Julie Adair King's 'Canon EOS 70D for Dummies' is the latest addition as a guide to getting the most out of my newest DSLR. A good portion of the books addresses basic photography concepts (something I like to review on almost a weekly basis), but the author does a fine job of relating each of these concepts to the 70D. Like all of the other Dummies, and Idiots publications this book has hints, tips, and cautions in the margins which sometimes take the reader of the immediate track. Also, like many books the narrative about a particular photo illustration (mostly about menu options) is not always found on the same page as the illustration. However, that's a very minor complaint. King obviously knows her DSLRs, and does a very good job of walking the 70D owner through the camera's capabilities, and provides enough experienced based information to make the book useful not only to the novice, but to the enthusiast as well. ... show more

  • Very well written and easy to follow.
Format: Paperback
I am a novice at photography and just recently purchased the Canon EOS 70D. I ordered this book and read through most of it before doing much with the camera. IMO this book is a must have - it is a great resource book and far exceeds the limitations of the camera Owner's Manual.

  • Highly Recommend
Format: Paperback
I am a professional portrait photographer. This camera is new to me so I wanted something that worked easily for quick learning where I was unfamiliar. Canon has great cameras and the 70D is definately a favorite for the price. Julie Adair King gives all you need to learn the settings used on this camera. It is a great book for a basic beginner as well as a great reference book for someone more knowledgeable but maybe not with this particular camera. I highly recommend it to anyone who purchases a Canon EOS 70D ... show more

  • Perfect companion
Format: Kindle
I recently upgraded from a T5i to the 70d, and purchased two other books about the 70d - one was over simplified and the other was just a headache to read. This book is just enjoyable to read and understand, and you'll be mastering your 70d in no time.
