My 8 month old dachshund puppy was having gland issues. We tried glandex first and then we tried this food which was a protein source food change. I had to cut back on the amount of food that he eats because this has more kcal per cup and was causing him to gain weight. I was talking to my vet's office and took him in to be seen. The vet said he looks wonderful and he had a great exam. We are staying away from chicken as the first main ingredients in food and treats for him. His stools are now firmer and switching to this food should help with his gland issues. We will find out, when he goes back on Wednesday for a recheck. ... show more

My puppy does well o this food but as others mentioned it is quite crumbly. Not to the point that I will not feed it to my dog though. She has firm bowel movements and seems to like it. Not sure I will keep her on it much more than a few more months.

As of the end of 2021 and Into 2022 people are reporting that these large bags are making there dogs sick. My dog was fine on the small bags from Petsmart but the first time I fed him from The large bag that I ordered here he became very sick with diarrhea. The vet could not find anything wrong with him and suggested that it was the food. We did not consider it to be the food because he had been eating this food for 8 weeks(small bag). After searching reviews we found the same reoccurring theme that these large bags are the common denominator. Can’t prove it but it is very concerning that dozens of people are reporting the same thing. The food kibbles are a different color, different texture, and the bags are full of broken up pieces that have turned to dust. Beware. ... show more

When I adopted my purebred Pitbull puppy, his belly would get super pink and he was covered in hives. He had scratched so much that he had an infection on his skin. I took him to the vet who theorized that it was a food allergy and put him on the vet prescribed rabbit protein food that's over $100 for 20 lbs of food. After much searching... and a lot of thinning of my wallet from the rabbit meat dog food... I found the salmon and oatmeal limited ingredients food and within a few weeks his scratching had significantly reduced (months later no scratching at all) and his extreme gas had disappeared. Just to confirm the chicken allergy, I let him try the Canidae limited ingredients chicken and the hives, gas and itchiness returned... no more chicken for Pixel.
