  • Walk away! Good concept, but it's got major issues.. Specifically, IT'S DEAD!
I bought this unit for my conversion van. It was intended to replace the aging Pioneer Super Tuner cassette deck unit that was in it when I bought the van. Now if you know anything about a 1990 Dodge B-series van, You'll know that the way the dash is shaped, a slide-out/flip-up screen is not an option. (There is an overhang above the location of the single din stereo slot) So I went with this with the idea that it ticked all the boxes. Bluetooth. SD slot, USB, AUX, Integrated back-up cam, (A big selling point!) Even video outputs for playing video from SD or USB onto an external monitor (Again, conversion van) So I had high hopes. And yes, It does function as intended. ... for a while... BUT.... There are some cons. The ultimate outcome of buying this is obvious from the title of this review.. IT'S DEAD! But while it did work: • Sound: The sound was a bit harsh. Rather tinny. • The audio adjustments were vague at best. Trying to fine-tune a little EQ slider on a touch-screen is near impossible. A human finger is simply too big. But it can be done with a considerable amount of fiddling about. But even then the sound was not stellar. But I accept that with such a low-priced unit. Moving on. • Playing from USB drive or SD slot was not intuitive. While the unit did recognize folders, It seemed to just randomly shuffle everything. My folders contents are arranged in alphabetical order by filename. (Example: "ACDC - Back In Black.mp3") So all the "A"s should play first. Then the "B"s and so on.. I wanted to play all my AC~DC in my Classic Rock folder, followed by my Black Sabbath, and I got Back In Black, followed by Type O Negative's Wolf Moon From the Rock/Metal folder, then Some Hank Jr. From the Country folder. It was all over the place! BT and AUX were fine. They are just audio feeds. The phones player (Mine is AIMP) does the sorting of the the playlists. • The screen functioned well enough, if you are very precise where you touch.. and IF it would have stayed on. But it flashed off at random, just going blank. Ultimately going off for good. • The steering wheel remote did work, but the mounting method is an elastic velcro strap to hold the bracket. Which itself must be taken apart to install. Then it's not very secure. You need to basically support the remote with a finger around the wheel, behind it while using your thumb to press the buttons. And the battery cover latch snapped off when I installed the battery (NOT INCLUDED) The main remote seems to be a non-specific, generic card-type remote. it worked, but it's darn vague. • Sometimes the tuner screen just reverted back to factory. (Everything set back to 88.7) I had to turn it off, then back on to get back to my two presets. (It has more, I only like two stations in my area) Plus, Even local station go static-y. It did not receive any weaker stations at all. • Finally, NO INSTRUCTIONS! No kind of operating instructions whatsoever! Yeah, a basic installation guide with a few pointers, but that's it. If you're getting this, (don't!) just prepare to spend some time sitting in the driveway, figuring things out, then taking it back out in a few weeks once it dies. Over all, The thing worked. it played music, and video files. It did what was advertised. But it was darn fiddly, glitchy, random, and not well thought out. Not to mention the fact that it's now a dead lump of chinesium just sitting out in the shed, waiting to be sent to Big Clive..(a youtuber who dissects crappy electronics) If they made some refinements in functionality and quality to a future model, it would be wonderful. Even if they jacked the price up to cover the better version, it would be good. But as it is, right now, Just save yourself some trouble and move on.. ... show more

  • It's complicated to describe...
Okay, let me say this first: This stereo is awesome for the price. I mean like super awesome. Sounds good, fast Bluetooth connection, touch screen works like a champ, the backup camera provides a great view even at night. Now for the negatives. Installation (especially for the backup camera) is not for newbies. The camera takes its power from the backup lights, so you'll have to tap into them. I used quick splice connectors but it took several tries because the wires coming out of the camera are so small it was hard to get a good connection. Another thing is this unit is a tad glitchy. Every once in a while I'll start the car and it loses the presets or the Bluetooth won't connect. I can turn it off and on again and it'll work properly. If you're going to start the car and immediately back up you have to wait for the stereo to completely "boot up" before putting the car in reverse. If you just start the car and throw it in reverse you'll get a rolling backup camera display, like when you had to adjust the horizontal hold on old TVs. The FM radio reception is kind of weak, I didn't have any reception issues with the old Pioneer CD player I replaced with this unit. Back to the good. I can't say I love this part, but I understand it. If you're rocking out and put the car in reverse, it automatically drops the volume. I guess that's so you can easily hear anything happening behind the car. The changing colors on the display are a nice, subtle touch. It's easy to operate and switch between modes. The external mic provided works well for hands free cellphone talking. Look at what you get for the price, around $60 when I bought mine. Touchscreen, Bluetooth, backup camera, two USB connections, hands free phone. Yeah, it's not perfect, but it's pretty much kinda okay. I'm not sorry I bought it. This kind of performance from a $600 unit would be utterly unacceptable, but from a $60 unit, I can live with it. It reminds me that sometimes I just need to be patient. ... show more

  • Great price, works, but instructions suck.
I have a 1990 Dodge Ram Truck with a Manual Transmission. The good is the stereo fit like a glove in the cutout with no modifications. Crazy amount of features for a 50$ stereo and camera. You can use your phone, charge your phone, AM/FM radio (some don’t have AM now days for some reason), blue tooth and aux plug. It has features many factory stereos don’t have. It brought my truck into the 22nd century. The bad is the instructions. They are useless. They don’t tell you clearly how to install or use controls for install. I didn’t use the steering wheel control as it looks janky. The antenna hole is on the wrong side, so I had to buy an extender. Not big deal, like 6$. It may not be like this for many cars, so not really a negative. The camera mount is very poor. I bought a license plate mount because this is the best location for my truck. It’s less than 10$. Most wires were wire to wire match on the back of the radio. I tied off the extra wires for things I don’t have like subwoofers. The camera works fine, even with an old school manual truck by connecting it to the reverse light wire and ground wire. There was more than enough wire for my 8 food bed truck. Unless you drive a stretch limo, there is enough wire. This is a great feature I was worried about. I like that you can change the colors or the background and even the display feature, although there are zero instructions how to do this. Most settings are on the motion of the screen and you press the setting button. Once I figured this out it was easy. Time will tell how long this radio lasts, but considering it works at all on a 31 year old truck is impressive. I would give it five stars, but the instructions are terrible for mounting and use. The company does reply with questions, but I am not sure if it’s a language barrier or what, but they aren’t that helpful unfortunately, but at least they reply. I would suggest better instructions for installation and use. ... show more
