Considering that this notebook is not legal size, it is very expensive. I tought I was purchasing the legal size notenook, but this is only 7 1/4 by 9 1/2. I also have a legal size cambridege Notebook and it began falling appart after moderately heavy use. It does look good though...

I've been using these notebooks for about 20 years now so they are part of my work "habits". I use them for meeting notes and capturing client project details in preparation for proposals and I like the open left hand column which I use to date entries and add additional details after meetings.

I really like this notebook! I judge notebooks on both their outsides and insides. Here's the scoop: The inside: The pages are fairly notebook-standard: thin enough to see text behind a page, but sturdy enough to stand up to lots of page turning. The pages have scored lines for removal from the binding edges, but I get cleaner edges folding along the scored line a few times and then removing the page. It's not difficult to remove a page, binding edge and all, from the notebook (in case you prefer that method). The lines on the front and back of each page are light gray; they are a little hard to see in dim light but very pleasing in normal office lighting, daylight, etc. There's a little date box at the top right of the front of each page. I tried out several different types of writing utensils to see how different inks performed on the pages. I provided a photo of my results. In general, anything that is a marker bleeds through--including a highlighter marker. This isn't surprising as most notebooks perform that way, so I don't consider that a negative. The outside: The cover of this notebook is indeed lovely to see and to touch. It's almost velvety! However, the cover is relatively floppy, so you'll probably want a hard surface to use for writing; the notebook isn't suited to using on your lap. That limits the notebook's function for me. Any lotion or oil on your hands will also stain the cover. Finally, unless you are a very conscientious and careful person who has a much more organized bag than I do, the cover will show travel wear. Nothing catastrophic (yet); just things like slightly crunched corners and wear to the edging. The spiral binding, however, is pretty tough. It looks like it did the day it arrived, pristine and brand-new! Overall, my four-star rating is due to all I like about this notebook; I took off one star for the relative floppiness of the cover and its susceptibility to wear. However, when I fill this notebook up, I'll get another one just like it and keep it on my desk for office use. There are other notebooks for travel.

I’m a financial advisor and am hyper-organized; in order to feel sane and feel like I have a handle on my workload, I need to make to-do lists and do frequent “brain dumps” to get the items off my mind and onto paper. I was lacking a satisfactory, large notebook designed for this type of thing. I decided to give this one a try and am very happy! I knocked a star off, though, because of what other reviewers mentioned as well - this paper is THIN. If you prefer using pen (which I do), you cannot use the paper double-sided, as the pen from the previous page leaks through. However, I like the design so much for my needs that I just use pencil. Not ideal but also not a dealbreaker. I was just expecting much thicker paper because Cambridge usually is of higher quality / thicker paper. As a side note, I am 100% a paper nerd. As in I can’t go into Office Max without impulse buying sticky notes or a neat-looking notebook or new pens or pencils to write with. On that note, this meets my “nerd expectations” of how the notebook is designed and works for me, despite the paper being a bit thin. The paper is smooth, too, which is nice. As soon as I got it (fast shipping), I immediately sat down at my desk and wrote down everything I could think of to do, filling up 3 pages on organized, numbered lines! Very happy that I found something to keep my brain less cluttered and make sure I’m accounting for everything I need to do. I would order again, knowing in advance that I’ll just have to use pencil. (I’m sure a ball point pen would work, too, but not my prefered blue-ink Pilot Precise V5 Rolling Ball Stick Pens extra fine point - which would massively bleed through the paper - I’ve attached a photo of the pen I’m referring to). I do recommend this for the fellow type-A personality folks who live by their to-do lists.

I love the layout of this notebook. The right one third has empty space for comments on the notes you are taking on the other two thirds. It also provides room for action items.
