I'm very pleased with both the quality and price of this carburetor. It is a very good replacement carb in that the fittings are all in the right places and with the proper orientation, including the fuel inlet fitting. I will make a couple of notes for those replacing the original Kei Hin (Honda OEM) carb on the 1988-1990 models. First, the Caltric carb ships with a #125 main jet. That is the proper jet for the 1991+ models, but the 1988-1990 models call for a #120 main jet. Fortunately, Caltric includes in the box both a #115 main jet and a #120 main jet, so I switched out the main jet before I installed the carb. That's pretty easy and just requires removing the fuel bowl. The two loose jets are also used for high altitude operation -- #115 for the 1988-1990 models, and #120 for the 1991+ models. The second thing requires a little work, and deals with the choke cable. The fitting nut on the Caltric is a different thread than that on the original 1990 model choke cable. So, just take off the original choke cable nut and instead use the one Caltric supplies. BUT, know that the metal steel elbow inside the replacement nut is a little too long for use with the original choke cable, and you will not be able to attach the cable to the choke valve because the cable will be slightly short. The fix, however, is not too bad. Just take the steel elbow out of the Caltric fitting nut, put it in a vise, and use a hacksaw to cut off about 3/16" from the end that goes closest to the carb. De-burr it, put it all back together and it's golden. With the new carb, the Honda fired right up and needed no adjustment. I ran the Honda in all 4 gears and at different speeds and the carb performed just like it should.

Installed directly for my 1995 TRX300. Had to adjust tuning to get it to idle. Ended up backing out idle jet way more than should have been needed. Jet fell out while riding. Luckily it fell into the housing underneath and I was able to reinstall with some thread sealant. Hopefully that will hold the jet in place. If not the. Carb was a waste.
