We used these "anchors" for our waverunners. With a few very small waves the waverunners ripped the straps and floated away. Luckily we caught them quickly. May work as a waterproof bag but calling these "sand anchors" is false advertising, to say the least.

I filled these full of beach sand, clipped the closure shut, and lifted up on the carabiner. The top ripped off instantly, as shown in the first photo. I filled the second bag about 2/3 full, and lifted it very carefully, and it held, so I used it. When we lifted it up at the end of the day the top ripped off, leaving the sandbag at the bottom of the ocean. I couldn’t do a return with one of the bags lost, so I tried to make the best of it, so I found my handy General 1/2” grommet kit, folded the fabric over by about 1.5”, and installed 6 grommets through both layers of fabric. I threaded some nice braided poly rope (not the included rope) through the grommets, tied a proper anchor bend knot onto the carabiner, and now the bag works great! I filled it full of sand, and I can toss it around without worry. The included rope is way too stiff to tie any kind of proper knot, and the shrink-wrap fell off immediately. The float is good. So the fabric bag gets 5 stars, the carabiners get 4 stars, the float gets 3 stars, the rope gets 2 stars, and the sewn top gets zero stars. You can make this into a functional sand anchor, but you need to treat it like raw material, not a finished product. Despite giving it 2 stars, I still bought another set. ... show more
