This used to be available in the Deli section at the local Meijer and I bought it for years until I moved. It was then and is still now the best chocolate I’ve had in my life. I can’t claim to be a renowned chocolate connoisseur but I’ve bought hand crafted chocolate boxes in the $100+ range and they never competed with Callebaut. It’s the Leonardo Da Vinci of chocolate. Whether for baking or breaking off pieces to satisfy your craving it’s the best choice. If I were to compare it with something commonly sold it would be Lindt but even better. I’m thrilled I found it again and for it to be the same as I used to get. If 11lbs sounds like too much for you just vacuum seal it by the block with oxygen absorber packets until you’re ready to use it. ... show more

Best chocolate I've had in my LIFE. If you're a milk chocolate fan do not look any further, it's SO worth the price. When you do the math it's actually cheaper than bulk Hersheys bars.

    • Excellent milk chocolate, but 11 pounds worth can be wasteful...
Bought this for Christmas cookies and chocolate dipping which worked out great. Problem is 11 pounds is a lot of chocolate, needs to be offered more regularly and reliably in smaller weight sizes. Otherwise it melts and tempers easily and yields a semi gloss streak free color once set. I have a tempering machine that has a fixed tempering cycle. Other chocolates I've used might need more than one tempering cycle to be streak free, this stuff does it in one cycle. Hand tempering shouldn't be a problem to get the same results. Its got a good flavor its very creamy and rich when eaten alone, great for cooking-dipping, casting smaller snack bites or toss in some nuts and make clusters. Bar arrived broken in many pieces and looked like it went through a war zone getting there, was a little disappointed in that. Bar has grid lines that roughly define 1 pound blocks. Found the recipe to be just a little too thick for dipping, makes for a heavy coat if that's what you like. Can be thinned with coco butter but next time I'll just buy the thinner blend. Good value for 11 pounds but Christmas has long been over, Valentines and Easter have passed and I still have pounds of it. I refrigerated the remaining chocolate not sure of how much preservatives it has but knowing I'll have to bring it to room temp and let it dry for a few days before I can use it. Gave it 4 stars because being sold in 11 pound bars is just too much for this home confectioner. ... show more

Overall, this chocolate melted very quickly and easily. With proper melting, the gloss on the final product was very good. Probably more of a winter chocolate--as a quick test, I made chocolate-covered strawberries. If I leave them out of the refrigerator in my mid-70 degree kitchen (hot summer this year), they start to melt/get too soft. I broke up the chocolate into 1 lb-ish (there is a 10-block pattern on the bar you receive, so each is approx 1.1 lb) blocks, vacuum-sealed them, and put all but 2.2 lbs into the freezer. At the price, the extra few minutes to do so was easy and well worth the cost. Where are you going to get decent chocolate at less than $8/lb? This will see me (and my kids) through baking for a while. Better than the Hershey's you typically find at the grocery store, and don't get me started on 'chocolate flavored' melting wafers. When we get through this 11 lb monster, we'll be buying again. ... show more
