My 1st review is still valid see below :-) and I did purchase 3 more of the hats which I like them all but I did notice the hats with the distressed look are slightly smaller than the ones that are not distressed (see the white hat photo) but again if you're like me slightly larger head with natural hair it is worth a try super cute with a low bun :-) ::old review:: It is slightly large but I have natural hair that I keep in big twist so the extra room makes it an easy fit, thus I love it! The hat is nice: stylish, durable and a good price. My only "con" is that the size chart on the product page doesn't cover hats and these hats are only sized by S, M, L, XL and not hat number sizes. I used a 3rd party that showed my hat size (7.5) as XL. Wrong! I had to send it back and re-order an L size hat. Vendor was fast with credit but I had to pay return shipping out of pocket making a $6.5 hat into a $10 one. Amazon please add hat sizing to hat items; knowing my chest size doesn't translate into a hat size thank you. Nice hat though! ... show more

    • Nice looking hat
I wanted to try something different than just another ball cap, but I am pretty conservative and not very flashy when it comes to my clothing. I know a cadet cap is not really pushing the envelope but for me it is a deviation from 'normal'. I ordered the timberland color and it is a good looking hat, it is something just a little different and I feel comfortable wearing it. In spite of the reviews that have been posted detailing the circumference of the different sizes I have what is generally considered a pumpkin head and I ordered the XL size. Haha, true to the reviews it is a very generously sized XL and is pretty loose. A strong gust of wind will probably blow it off my head. My bad on ordering the XL instead of the L. I am keeping the hat and will see how much it will shrink by washing/drying it. If it is still loose I will wear it with a sweat band when I am working around the house. If I decide to order another one I will get the large. Edit here..... I know I have barely worn the cap, but I like it and if I don't post this now I never will. When I use a carpenters tape measure my head is 23 3/8" circumference. Hope this may help someone else pick the right size. I washed and dried the brand new cap (warm water/high heat dry) and it shrank to a perfect fit. It held up pretty well to the washing, just a little wrinkled. I have been wearing it while working in the garage and it absorbs sweat very well. The hat is roomy and very comfortable. Hoping to prevent sweat stains I just threw it back in the washer (cold water) and will probably let it air dry this time.. Since I know how I treat my ball caps and this one does shrink when its washed/dried I will stick with the XL when I order more of these. If I was a person that just worn a hat as an accessory I would try the large size. ... show more

Here are some basic details with specific pertinence to "Cadet Army Cap Basic Everyday Military Style Hat". This is a handsomely designed hat. Its coloring is richly deep. Its construction is durable. It fits exactly as needed and much better than expected. It's a solidly formed hat, meaning that it doesn't have vents or an adjustable strap, also meaning that it has a firmly contoured brim. Besides, it's mighty comfy; though, it isn't sloppy looking at all. In my perspective, this hat is called a cap, and vice versa, due to the fact that it's both a cap and a hat, but a bit more like a hat. In my viewpoint, the only reason that this hat is referred to as basic is that it doesn't have any frilly designs or logos. In my opinion, that there aspect of this here hat makes its appearance even nicer. The pricing for this hat/cap is unquestionably reasonable. Initially, I ordered one in black. Then, I ordered another one in navy blue. Then, I proceeded to order the same colors in the same quantity again. That's a total of four, so far. In other words, I definitely like this hat, and do recommend it to my fellow Amazon customers. Need I say more? ... show more

This BDU/Fatigue style cap is of excellent construction, the material has a slightly stiffened like quality that holds it shape extremely well. It was packed with a cardboard insert to help maintain its shape during shipping. It looks much better in person than it appears in the website picture.     • Safe from Sun and Sweat
Size: Large Color: Wheat Daily Cadet
IT was a little large when i first tried it on, but remember, it's all cotton, and you'll be washing this several times. After a couple of washes, it fit like a large. The cap seems well made, however, there are no ventilation grommets on the head. What happens, when you put the hat on your head, it forms an air tight seal to the top of your head. So the hat looks sort of puffy on my head. I have to remember to push down on the top, and squeeze out the air, so I don't look like a marshmallow head. There are no types of polyester, or foam, around the headband. Its just an inner layer of canvas, that folds in from the outer layer. I'm fine with that. My other cotton caps, had fiber around the headband, or foam. After a couple of years of constant wear and washing, that headband foam or fiber, just fell apart. So this is a hat that will last you. In fact, the more you wear it and wash it, the better it will look. Finally, i liked the size of the sun visor. Not too long, not too short. I wear these at the gym, or bike riding, since I sweat heavy. Perfect hat for keeping the sun, as well as rivers of sweat, out of your eyes. I am happy with the cap, and if I need another one, will order this brand again. ... show more
