Total garbage!!! Wasted HALF my day trouble-shooting only to find out the riser cable that did not work. The Display Port Cable does NOT support 1440p high refresh rates (so you'd like need to cut out some of your pc case). Assembly "instructions" are a total joke, literally tells you to go to their website, which has like 3 pictures on it. Also one of the provided screws became stripped when dissembling it, so now it's a giant hunk of metal in the amazon return pouch with an angry note included. Did not enjoy wasting my day on this. It's a shame because I love CableMod's cables, but for this, buyer beware : ( ... show more

  • Pretty good stuff
Style: 3.0 edition 2 x Displaypoty
I have an Asus Strix 1080Ti GPU. Not only is it really nice looking in a vertical position, but it is also a big boye GPU. The case I have, the Corsair 500D, has a built-in vertical mounting option, and just deep enough that the large heatsink still fits inside the case. However, the case puts the fans too close to the door, which has to be left "open" (the case door swings open). So I decided to try this option out, knowing I wouldn't have to gut the backside of the GPU mounts. For this purpose the CableMod VPB works great. It is easy to install, and puts your GPU in an optimal spot so that it has room to breathe, right behind your case's front fans, where GPUs typically would be. The caveat, is that the DisplayPort cables (ver. 1.2) included are not the right spec to support high refresh rates at 1440p and above. I feel this is a bit of an oversight, since a lot of users who have to move their GPUs further back (when most case' built-in verticle mounts are too close to the main case wall) will have thicker heatsinks on their GPUs. So, I ended up still having to cut to of the PCIE slot bars out of the back of my case. I'm not that concerned about that aspect of the vertical bracket, as this one offers great support and positioning of the GPU. Plus it was just the two bits, which easy "work-harden" off with a pair of pliers. Two-three years after RGB took over gaming components, why case manufacturers have not yet made this aspect of cases modular is beyond me. Luckily custom PC makers like CableMod have an eye for these things. ... show more

  • Research your build first..
Style: 3.0 edition HDMI + DisplayPort
There were pros and cons. Unfortunately this item did not work for my build. As seen in the photo, I have bottom case fans, and this did not play well with that. Pros: Mount is thick. The mount also gives you the option to use the bottom support of the bracket instead of forcing you to. The bottom bracket has holes for better airflow, I wish all GPU mounts had holes. Cons: The mount is too bulky and pushed forward, causing the issue of not being able to use with bottom case fans, meaning at minimum you would have to remove one fan. The bottom bracket sits to low on the mount so even if you do remove one fan, the bracket isn’t high enough to sit atop the other to fans. The bracket itself being optional, is held in by two small screws causing GPU sag if you use it. Conclusion: I have a Lian Li O-11 Dynamic case which is made for max airflow, hence why you want 3 fans at the bottom. Most likely your bottom fans are RGB meaning you spent a pretty penny on them and don’t want to have to remove any, not only for airflow but also aesthetic purposes. This mount does NOT work well with Lian Li O-11 Dynamic if you are using 3 bottom case fans, thus I had to refund this item. Side note: If you are like me, using this case with 9 total fans, and want a vertical GPU, go for the Phanteks Veritcal GPU mount. It’s smaller, sturdy, no sag, work with this case AND bottom case fans, and half the cost. Also sold here on Amazon. ... show more

  • Good product if you understand the inherent issues
Style: 3.0 edition 2 x Displaypoty
First off, this product is worth the money if you want to vertical mount your GPU. There is one major feature that I feel sets it apart from the competition and makes it worthwhile. That said, it is not without its problems. First, the good. The product is quite sturdy and stable. There are some reviews calling it flimsy, but they are being unfair. The unassembled pieces do flex and twist, but you cannot evaluate stability on a disassembled product. Once properly assembled, the mount is very sturdy, and exhibits little to no flex or deformability. Next, The mounting position gives the card plenty of room to breath, so the mounting position does not negatively impact thermals. In fact, it improves the GPU core and hotspot temps a few degrees under load in my testing. Finally, the big feature that sets it apart from the competition is the cables. The cables have a flat, 90-degree connector that when combined with the depth, allows the cables to pass through the rear of the case with no modification. I did have to bend the crossbeams of one of the slots out a bit to create some room, but I was able to bend it right back after the connectors went through. And while it's not specific to this product, the bonus of vertical mounting means making clean, attractive runs with your power cables much easier. Now to the negatives, which I feel are significant, but not deal-breaking. The first negative that you will quickly notice is that the gap between the back of the case and the back of the mount is not filled or covered. It is just open and is hugely jarring and unattractive. I found that a piece of foam packing material that was inside the package was the perfect width and height to fill the gap perfectly, so I just cut to length and jammed it in. It's an inelegant solution, but it works. The other big issue is that no matter what I did, I could not get it to sit perfectly straight. The mount tilts slightly outward as you move toward the front of the case. It's slight, and isn't obvious unless you are looking for it, but it's there, and there is no way to get rid of it. The case itself may be a factor, but CableMods should have known different cases would fit slightly differently and provided a method to adjust the angle of the lower mount to compensate. Finally, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that the cable is PCIe 3.0, so if you have a PCIe 4.0 GPU and motherboard, you will need to go into your UEFI settings and set the PCIe slot to gen 3 or you will get crashes. While it does cause you to lose a very small amount of performance (1-2% in most benchmarks), I've found that the improved thermals more than make up for it. You can always replace the riser cable with a 4.0 cable, but I don't think the extra money is worth it. So, is this the bracket you should get? If you don't have crossbars between the slots on your case, you may do well to get a different brand, but this one is just fine, and gets my recommendation as long as you understand the issues and limitation. ... show more
