  • DO NOT BUY!!!!
Size: 6 Feet
Hi everyone, I hope you take my advice on this one. I tried this cable out with my CHG70. The cable caused my screen to consistently flicker and would only go into YCbCr422 at 8 bit correctly. The cable couldn't manage 10 bpc on anything and wouldn't go to RGB either. I've noticed a lot of positive reviews for this cable and I will say the cable will work at 1440p YCbCr422 144hz at 8bit however that's not why people buy this cable they buy it to meet the VESA 1.4 DisplayPort standard. This cable is NOT CERTIFIED under VESA standard and it shows. I had no idea about this until trying it out today and then seeing it not work at all. I tried a VESA 1.4 Display Port Certified Cable right after trying this one which I got from my other monitor and it worked perfectly with no flickering and 144hz at 1440p with RGB and 10 bpc. Please make sure no matter which DisplayPort 1.4 cable you get for it to be VESA certified as it will most likely make a very big difference for you and will only cost you around 2-4$ more then this cable. ... show more

  • Real World Test Review
Size: 6 Feet
The media could not be loaded. I explained it all in my video, as this cable is a perfect Display Port 1.4 cable. It has one job: plug into a system and then display the image from the source. Does that perfectly. I have been using this for content creation purposing working with color ranges and bit depth that 95% of us NEVER see, and this cable works for my extreme color needs AND HDR10 perfectly fine. Thank you for creating a perfectly functional, inexpensive cable. If you future purchasers want to pull my strings to get a con out of this, then the only bad thing I could say is that the cable is slightly thick, however not as thick as some ridiculous hdmi cables out there. Besides, this is great for durability. 10/10. ... show more

  • False Avertising. Do not buy
Size: 6 Feet
This cable was advertised as a Displayport 1.4, meaning it should be able to run 1080p at least at the advertised 165 hz, which It could not - just 100 hz. Also, if it's DP 1.4 it should be able to run 1080p at 240 hz. This is an absolute scam and is not a DP 1.4 cable. Dont waste your time trying to troubleshoot all your drivers and videocard/monitor - the issue is this garbage cable. Do not buy. EDIT: If the DisplayPort cable DOES NOT say "VESA Certified" then DO NOT BUY IT. Amazon basics has some VESA Certified DP cables, but i think it only goes up to 1.2. 1.2 Should be able to run 1080p @ 240 hz and the fact that this cable claims to be a 1.4 compliant cable and can only hit 100 hz @ 1080p means it is an absolute scam. Buy Amazon Basics 1.2 cable and it will be better than this POS "1.4" cable. ... show more

  • Certifications exist for a reason
Size: 16 Feet
This review is for the 16 feet Cable Matters DisplayPort Cable 1.4 . TL;DR | The 13 feet and 16 feet cables are NOT VESA certified. They have issues that can potentially damage your DP 1.4 monitors or even GPU (or not, IDK, flashes on screens seem scary). Note: I'll refer to Cable Matters as "CM", and DisplayPort as "DP" from this point forward. - - - DISCLAIMER: Technically, they aren't claiming that it is VESA certified in the specific products' descriptions. However, there is a good chance you might have been led to believe that all cables are VESA certified because it is mixed up with their other VESA certified cables (3, 6 and 10 feet). I am not a fan of this deceptive advertisement. It's just sneaky. I am rating mostly the product itself. My other rants have little effect on my product rating. I returned the cables and received a full refund as if this writing. - - - EXPERIENCE: I was having issues - my monitor would flash bright lines randomly after the system has been working under load. I have troubleshot this and did not initially want to blame my brand new cables, as I thought they were VESA-certified. CM has always been my go-to and I have never had issues with them. Anyway, I purchased two identical CM DP cables, and either would cause signal flickering on two different monitors. After my almost month-long troubleshooting, CM and I both agree that the issue is in fact with their cables. SUPPORT WOES: They told me ALL 10ft+ cables do this (i.e. including competitors). They suggested that I instead purchase THEIR 10ft and 6ft cables, PLUS their own signal booster/repeater to connect those cables. This information is not true. VESA can certify DP 1.4 cables up to 15 meters (50 feet). They implied that this information is outdated, pointing out that this was in the "Archive FAQ" section of DP's website. (The only reason it was in the "archive" was because of the fact that the "Current FAQ" is all about DP 2.0). - - - RETURN AND REFUND: They did ask me to return the product before I can get a refund. It took weeks because I've been temporarily disabled physically and could not drive to the post office (USPS label, no package pickup, outbox slot too small for two 16-foot DP cables), and they wanted to physically get the cables first. They did send a label only. I think it's fair, but relatively frustrating when compared to almost every other company I've dealt with on Amazon. I just purchased another VESA-certified cable and had to spend a good chunk of my day managing my cables. (It was a pain having to remove their existing cables and replace them with a new one. I wish I could've just cut their cables as it would have been faster). - - - MY EQUIPMENT: Acer XB32U GX, Acer X34 GS, RTX 3090. I replaced my PCIe power cables when I was trying to figure out why my monitors are flashing white lines. Thank goodness it was not my GPU which was also new and would be really hard to replace. - - - CLOSING TIP: Upon checking DisplayPort's website for certified cables, only two brands are certified with a length of 5 meters (ones which are available here in Amazon): KabelDirekt - 1122 and StarTech - DP14MM5M . I got the former as a replacement. I am attaching a photo of what a VESA-certified 5-meter cable looks like. It's a magachonker. CM's version of it is almost as thin as any other short DP cables (including the stock cables). I have not experienced any issues with the real VESA-certified cables, and it's been almost a couple of weeks since I've switched. Also, do not try to be cheap like I was. The VESA-certified cables cost $30+, while CableMatters' is about $20 at the time of writing. If you NEED DP 1.4 (vs. DP 1.2), there is a good chance that you are using expensive gaming monitors and an equally capable GPU. It *could* damage your other equipment, or the issue might just be related to it not being able to push the required signal. I have not verified this. To be clear, I have been using CM's cables for a long time, and have had no issues with them. HOWEVER, I think it's irresponsible selling these and especially mixing these with their other good products. At the end of the day, they did the right thing, but only for me. They should pull these cables out, or rebrand them as DP 1.2 (the length might work fine for DP 1.2. Been using their 25-ft DP 1.2 cables for years without issues). FINAL DISCLAIMER: My experience is specific to one customer support person only and might not be fully representative of the whole company and the brand as a whole. - - - VERDICT: I do not recommend this particular product (16-foot version). ☆☆☆☆☆ | 0 stars out of 5. It works, with issues that are not fun. This cable should not exist and has the potential to damage CM's brand. This review is for the 16 feet Cable Matters DisplayPort Cable 1.4 . ... show more

  • Glad I made the jump from DVI
Size: 10 Feet
I had been using a DVI cable for about 10 years for various monitors and the pins inside finally came out of alignment for it. It was time to replace the cable. However, my new 144hz monitor and 1070 gtx card both had DisplayPort compatibility. I no longer have to go through the trouble of aligning pins into a port and screwing anything in anymore. This was easily plug and play and it gave me options for 60hz, 120hz and 144hz in my Nvida control panel right away. Granted, I already installed drivers for my monitor, but it gave me the 144 option that HDMI did not. It was easy to plug into both the card and the monitor and it feels fairly sturdy from what I can tell. Looking forward to this cable lasting several years. Plus, since I also occasionally use the same monitor for work, it makes it quick and easy to disconnect and move it to my office setup. ... show more

  • Works well for 1440p 144hz Gaming Monitor
Size: 6 Feet
I bought a 1440p 144hz Nvidia G-Sync gaming monitor which already came supplied with a generic Display Port cable. My computer has an ASUS Strix 1060-O6G graphics card and once I did an Nvidia firmware update to support display port 1.3/1.4 the monitor had continuous black screen flashing. I bought this Cable Matters Display Port cable to replace the generic cable that came with the monitor, and I haven't had any video issues or flashing since. So all I can say is that this cable has to be better than the generic cables that come in some monitor boxes. ... show more
