  • A sensible look at cables
As a professional photographer and graphic artist in today’s world my computer monitors have a direct effect on my livelihood, and price is not a barrier to getting the best available. I just upgraded my main monitor in my home studio and have the capabilities of connecting it via display port interfaces at both ends so I ordered this short 3 foot cable. Searching the listings there were several to choose from. I chose Cable Matters. It wasn’t for price because they are actually one of the lowest cost choices available, but rather on their earned reputation for quality. I keep coming back to this brand because I trust it, and that is everything when your career depends on it. WHAT I LIKE This is what could be called the basic black option. If your decision is made on the theory that bright colors and a trendy appearance has anything to do with the performance of a cable, this isn’t your product. It is thick, not especially flexible with solid feeling ends. It has just the right amount of flex to be used with a monitor that has positioning adjustments that will be used often by the user. THE LOCKS Having used a previous DP cable from this company I have come to appreciate the importance of the locks at each connector that hold the connector firmly in the port and prevent it from working loose or accidentally being pulled out as the monitor is adjusted. To me this is not an option, it is a requirement, and most cables don’t have it. The locks were one of the key deciding factors in choosing this cable. YES OR NO Although the difference of a few dollars either way was meaningless to me in this case, performance was everything. This is a digital cable, there is no better or worse for such a signal, it either meets established standards of performance or it doesn’t. Of course this one does. It is definitely worth considering. ... show more

  • Faulty cable? Edit: They fixed it!!
Bought two of these cables to connect my PC monitors (Asus v248qe) to my new graphics card (GTX 1070). If I put the computer into sleep mode with the dp cables connected the computer will shut down and not respond to anything. Once I unplug the cables the computer will then boot to BIOS and I can plug the cables back in. For now I have gone back to my DVI cables. EDIT: The company reached out to me and sent me a free cable to make up for the faulty ones I ordered. The company did not have to do that but they did. That speaks mountains to me. Any company that will, on their own, reach out to make something right at their own expense will have my repeated business. The new cable they sent works like a charm. THANK YOU Cable Matters! ... show more

  • DisplayPort Easy Connection and Good Quality
Bought several sets of these for dual monitor set-ups at work. Haven't failed us yet in over 2 years of use. Inexpensive compared to other vendors for those that might use Staples or other business accounts. Well worth it if you've got DisplayPort PC and monitor hook ups. Works like HDMI with audio. Would be great for a single monitor setup as well. The cables are thick and durable. I actually prefer these to HDMI connections since they lock on instead of just plug in. HDMI tends to weigh down on some connections since they don't have that locked in fitting. ... show more

  • For some reason a 3 foot cable is directional?
I got a 3 foot cable to replace a 10 foot cable as it was far too long in my need. Weirdly, this cable is directional. It only works with the input on one end and the display on the other. This shouldn't be the case for a cable this short, but it works so I kept it, but it's not in the description that this should be the behavior of it. ... show more

  • It's a Cable Matters. Never had an issue that wasn't an ID-10T (IE running too long a cable)
Cable feels great, seems to be of a high quality, and it's a digital signal, so cable quality really isn't a big deal, but as usual, Cable Matters seems to know their stuff. It fits right into the ports, feels like a proper cable should. I 100% recommend ANY of their products, as they perform flawlessly upto the limits of the standard (I have a pair of 50' HDMI's I tried to daisy chain a few years back, and didn't realize 100' was at/beyond the limits for HDMI, and got confused for a while) ... show more

  • Cable Matters DisplayPort to DisplayPort Cable (DP to DP Cable) 3 Feet - 4K Resolution Ready
+1 - Item arrived on time, and not damaged +1 - Item is as described +3 - Item performs as expected, and connected properly Thoughts: These are nice cables. They are a bit thicker than your average cable, which also makes them pretty stiff. The cable comes with a sticker on the connector to make you aware of the push button for DP. On both sets of cables I got, the sticker left residue that I had to rub off. Not a big deal, but annoying. With these cables I was able to achieve max resolutions on my 4k 27" monitors, and the pictures looks great. ... show more

  • It works
I got this cable (3') for a new Dell U2719D monitor. I wanted the DisplayPort cable rather than than the HDMI cable which came with the monitor. I plugged it in and it works perfectly. I realize that several commentators have mentioned that the cable is not symmetrical in the way it works and that flipping the connections between the computer and the monitor can straighten out an erratic feed (the two ends look identical).. In my case, there has not been any problem so I must have plugged it in correctly. So, I must have plugged it in correctly. Anyway, it works and I'm very happy. ... show more

  • a new lesson to me, and anybody should know about what I have experienced
I connect a dvi to hdmi cable with a dvi to displayport converter to connect my computer to the monitor. However, if you connect hdmi end to the computer and displayport to the monitor, it would not have any signal. I had thought my monitor had something wrong with its displayport. but when I connect the cable reversely, it actually worked, which means there is nothing wrong with my cable and converter. for some complicated reason I have to use the displayport on my monitor, so i bought this displayport cable, it works, which means signal would not pass through hdmi to display but it would work the other way around, which is a new lesson to me. Good to know. the cable is strong and thick. great cable ... show more
