I am so sorry I can't give this BRIGHTENING CC FOUNDATION 2N - LIGHT NEUTRAL five stars, because I really adore By Terry cosmetics. By Terry is one of my favorite companies! However, I am finding this foundation is just so fiddly in terms of application that I have to take off one star. When I apply it JUST RIGHT, it looks wonderful, and my complexion appears to be a peaches and cream wonder. When I apply it over a sunscreen that pills underneath the By Terry formulation, or the foundation sinks into my pores, or something else happens, I find myself wishing that this foundation had a lighter coverage. What I am finding is that it's just really difficult to apply this foundation perfectly. It pills when I put it over certain kinds of sunscreens. It's hard to tell which ones, though. Trial and error. But the biggest problem is that this foundation seems determined to sink into my pores. Now, my pores aren't very large. But tell that to this foundation. It seems to think that I need to know the location of each and every pore on my face, and it will make sure I know exactly where they are. Just in case I need to map them out. I've used primers and I've used other foundations along with this. I've used skin veils. I've mixed foundations. This foundation isn't exactly sheer, and it tends to be a little bit transparent, with a slightly more matte effect. I like this, but I would prefer it if it DID look a little more glowy and not so much "where are those pores?" But I also buff my face pretty well, and when I see this happening, I buff my face even more. Eventually, I've gotten to the point where the foundation does tend to smooth out a LOT, and it's just a very light veil. With that, it just barely covers my skin, and does just give me a light glow, which looks GREAT. It evens out my complexion, and allows my own skin to show through. When this happens, the coverage is perfect. For this foundation, I would say that there is a learning curve. I love it and am willing to figure out how to apply it, but I really love By Terry (I love the rose fragrance, too). Other people may not love trying to figure out how to apply this well, and other people may not have these problems, either. They may be specific to me. In any case, By Terry is a brand that generally incorporates some skincare into their cosmetics, and I personally love their products. So I am a fan, regardless. Recommended, with caution.

This full-coverage foundation is excellent quality. I love how creamy it feels. It also smells incredible. I can actually feel how moisturizing this foundation is for my skin. At first, it felt too creamy to be full-coverage but that was just user error. Start small and build on it. It is very buildable. And with that, it lasts all day long. It is also very easy to remove. I think it’s perfect for dry skin but is definitely versatile enough for all skin types. This is a great value and my new favorite for sure.

*I have combination, neutral-cool light skin with average-sized pores and minimal wrinkling with redness on my cheeks and under my nose.* Honestly, with this price point, I'm rather relieved that I'm not massively in love with this foundation. When it arrived, I tried it on my hand and was blown away with how it made my chronic redness (R@ynauds) absolutely disappear and made my skin look like the proverbial baby's butt. I could WAIT to try it on my face! Some people have complained about the scent being too heavy, but I found it delightful. It smells exactly like the Tea Rose perfume I used to wear everyday; my husband thought the same thing when he smelled it. I tried it the next day and found it took a lot longer to apply well than any other foundation I've ever tried. My goal for the summer is to find a lightweight, quick applying formula, and this just isn't it. In fact, it added a good 10 minutes to my morning. I tried applying it with my usual foundation brush, but that just smeared it around and stuck it into my pores (someone else mentioned the pore situation, and i very much echo it). I tried it with a sponge, and that removed what the brush had streaked...except in my pores. I tried my fingers. No. I was about to remove it and be done, but I picked up my brush again and buffed until I was bored. Hey! It looked MARVELOUS!!! The color is spot on for my skin, probably the best match I've EVER had, in fact. I felt confident that day and scared that I was about to have to try to figure out a way to keep buying this new Holy Grail. Then the next day arrived. I figured my error from the day before might have been not using primer, so I put my good stuff on and quickly found out that wasn't the issue. Oddly, my primer, which has played nicely with every other foundation I've ever tried, made the situation much worse. Not only were my pores glaring at me, it had settled and caked into lines I never knew I had, and when I tried to fix it, I was left with bare patches. The third day, I was determined. Okay, I thought, the past two times, I hadn't put on my moisturizer, because this foundation indicates it's got everything already. Moisturizer it is! Right away, I found out that wasn't the solution. At least for me, while the color is GORGEOUS and the scent is heavenly, it just takes too long to get a decent application, and I don't enjoy putting on makeup enough to go through it every time. Since I couldn't nail down what the secret trick is, either, I have no desire to go out with a face of polka-dot pores because of unfixable bad application days.
