I've used it for stringing lights, moving items on a high shelf, dusting and removing cobwebs, and changing high light bulbs in the garage. Very well made telescoping hook. I actually ordered this to use to pull stuff out of the bed of my pickup. Pleasantly surprised with the quality of this device. The hook design on the end is really nice for maneuvering those hard to reach items and the telescoping sections are easy to use. of course for use in my truck the length provided is overkill, but that's not a problem at all. Love the telescoping feature and has proven extremely useful many times. Very durable as the last one I tried didn't last more than a month before snapping in half. Our boat is being docked where the waves are definitely not very friendly many times and this is key to making sure there's no injuries or accidents. It folds up super quick and easy and was very price friendly when comparing. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking. ... show more

    • Very sturdy pole; just wish there were a longer option
I've had a boat hook for nearly 20 years now, but after adding a second boat to the fleet, I wanted to get another one. My old one is longer, with twist-lock operation between the 2 sections. This one has 3 sections, and it uses cam-lock tabs to lock the extensions in place. The overall length of the pole itself is 3' or maybe just over, and the screw-on hook portion adds another ~7", so you do have a little over 3.5 feet to work with here. If I still had my sailboat, that length would be almost useless, but on my motorboat, it could really come in handy. That's maybe even more true on the jonboat I recently got, which might end up being where this pole lives. However, the ultra-compact size of this one when retracted has me second-guessing that decision. The pole is very sturdy, and it could be stowed almost anywhere, so we'll see where it ends up. I might want to keep both on the motorboat, and add a third boathook for the jonboat! ... show more

This boat hook is great for so many uses! Even though we have a boat, we actually use this in our truck to reach things that get stuck at the front of our truck bed. The telescoping makes it great for storage. It’s durable enough to pull heavy items out the length of the truck bed. The handle is soft and confrtable to hold. We have a 22' fishing boat and spend a 99% of our time on the water fishing. This means every rod holder in the boat is occupied by a fishing pole. This extending dock hook is perfect for our needs as it stores easily in the console or front storage box. It extends easily and performs well under normal conditions. It's not solid metal, so I'm not sure how well it will hold up if you're in rough conditions trying to grab ahold of a dock, but then again if it's that rough, you shouldn't be out in a boat.
