This Butyl Water Proof Aluminum Tape has a very strong adhesion, definitely doing the job and matching the description. This tape can be used tempo rarely or permanent depending on the job used for, but it truly seals and protect. Great product.

I used this tape to seal some areas around duct work with our Gas Furnace and A/C unit. I made sure each strip that I cut was really pushed into place. So far it is working well and makes a solid connection.

Peeling this stuff back once laid down is about as much fun as scraping gum off the soles of your shoes on a hot summer day, but in this case, that's a good thing (a very good thing!). I have had a lot of experience with different types of foil tapes in various environments, but this is certainly the widest out there and as goopy/sticky you'll get; so the plus here is that the surface doesn't even have to be pristine to get this stuff to seal properly. How it will adhere over the seasons from hot to cold to rain and the baking Calif. sun remains to be seen, but for now it's all systems "go".

First, this is listed as extra thick butyl; I compared it to a white butyl tape that I used for roofing repairs on my RV, and I couldn't tell any difference. It is plenty thick to work well, however. I used it to wrap the ends of insulation used on the home air conditioner low side lines outside, and it adhered well (cleaned first with alcohol). The outside foil is nice to be able to get some protection from the sun's UV rays, however, care must be taken not to pull too hard or try to wrap around sharp turns, as the foil with tear. A good product if you use care during installation.

I ordered this tape because it is listed and described as butyl rubber. The package it arrived in is labeled "Natural Latex." Butyl will seal, remain flexible and sticky, and last virtually forever. Latex will seal, and then dry up and crumble in a few years. Big difference, and no way to tell for sure what it is. I'll put this aside for emergency and/or short-term use, and get some butyl tape I can trust for the project I wanted this for.

In the past I’ve had to seal things with butyl rubber from a caulk gun and then wrap duct tape around it to keep it in place. Why didn’t I invent this tape?? Well, at least I now have it on hand. I don’t currently have anything I need to seal, but the Boy Scout in me says to be prepared. When my wife spotted this tape I told her it was probably just overpriced duct tape. I was very wrong! The butyl rubber is soft and pliable, and the foil is tough and seems like it has a plastic coating on it. I can’t tear it by hand. Scissors or a razor knife are required to cut it. I tested it by freezing it and applying it around pvc pipe. The results were awesome. It stayed flexible, and when the butyl rubber made contact with itself, it became one, almost like vulcanizing. Now that I have it, I’m hoping I never need it. Yeah, that will happen…

Since this tape uses pressure to set, you need to have some sort of roller to push the tape into the material you are sealing. Without the roller you can almost never give the tape adequate pressure to hold. I used this to seal a crak in my garage door, but it remains to be seen just how long it holds.

I stumbled across this butyl tape when I was looking for a reliable solution to fix some leaks in the roof of our old house. After using this product, I am convinced of its effectiveness. The application process was easy and the tape adhered securely to all surfaces I applied it to, I also used it to seal awnings and around windows and despite a few heavy rains since then there have been no leaks. The thickness of the tape provides a solid layer that not only seals but also insulates, adding a bit of thermal protection. It's easy to clean and prepare the surface before use, and the tape's flexibility makes adjustments during installation simple.
