When choosing a table, I had a choice between Butterfly TR21 or one of those popular on Amazon Joola or Stiga tables. Thank God I made a right choice! This gorgeous, made in Germany, 19mm thickness table is a proper platform to play, unlike thin and flimsy Joolas. The table was not difficult to assemble--not at all, thanks to a video that the manual referred to. The video guided us step by step, and within an hour we had a fully assembled table. The frame it sits on is very very sturdy. The halves come together in a perfect horizontal position. The table is easy to lift into a self-playing position. It rolls well. And it looks great. Great table, the surface is great, the ball bounces properly on this table. So if you buy a cheaper kind, the ball may not bounce that well. There are tables that you don't have to spend much time assembling it but I am not willing to sacrifice the table surface with the proper bounce. I spent 4 and a half hour assembling this by myself. I read the recommendation of laying all the screws and parts out. Put the 3 kinds of similar bolts with different lengths in separate piles before assembly. You assemble the roller rack first, then the table top. The only time I needed an extra hand was the last half hour when I have to put the two half-table top on the the rack. Each half-table top is about 70 pounds. You need someone to hold the rack in place (without rolling away) while you flip the half table top to it's proper position. Can one person do it?. Yes, you'll have to put the roller rack against a wall so it won't roll away while you are lifting and flipping the half-table top on to the rack. This will take a lot more time. A 10 year old boy or girl is sufficient for your extra help. ... show more

There's a reason why this table had such high reviews, and it's because it's a great product. They give you extra screws and bolts just in case any are faulty or if you accidentally misplace them. The table does take 2-3 hours to assemble. Most screws you have to do by hand. Make sure you have at least 2 wrenches for assembly. The directions packet seem overwhelming, but it wasn't that bad. Just take your time and memorize each image before doing each step. The guide to all the screws and parts was very helpful, because a few screws looked exactly the same with subtle differences. After assembly, this table is great to play on. It's thick enough that it probably won't cave in the center over time. It feels sturdy when I roll it around or bring one side up for singles play. I love the paddle and ball holders on both sides. Butterfly is a renowned table tennis brand, and definitely one that I trust. ... show more

I was a bit worried when I got a call asking if it was okay to deliver an 180 pound piece of sports equipment. It was the Santa gist for our 9 year old boys. My husband didn't look at it till xmas eve, needless to say, it's not assembled in the box! It took him a few hours, but all he kept saying, besides a few missing screws, was that he was impressed with the quality. He loved the metal edging and the over all construction. He did mention also about they type of material the table is made from is an upgraded water resistant one and that he expected it to last a really long time. I was very impressed with the quality of this product. Both the instructions and the materials were of very high quality, and the design of the table was well thought out. The table surface is excellent and the folding action is very crisp. Assembly of any table is likely to take a while, and that was the case with the Butterfly TR21. I spent the better part of 2 hours putting it together and I needed an extra set of hands when mounting the table surfaces on the undercarriage. But there were no difficult or "mystery" steps. Hints: Two 10mm wrenches and/or a 10mm socket driver would definitely be handy. Construction can be done with a pair of crescent wrenches, but you'll have to be patient. Sorting your bolts is a must as there are a number of different but similar sizes. A larger wrench is needed to attach bolts on the pivoting wheels. ... show more

We ordered this table for my son, who asked for a ping pong table for his birthday. I ordered the table on a Friday and it was delivered 10 days later, on a Monday. The box had a small tear on one side, but nothing inside was damaged. As others have noted it takes about 3 hours to assemble the table. However, it's not difficult, just tedious. All the nuts and bolts are metric sized, so if you have a ratchet set with metric heads and an electric screwdriver, you could probably get through the assembly in 2-2.5 hours (I couldn't find my ratchet set and my electric screwdriver ran out of power about 15 minutes into the assembly). We've now had it up for over 2 weeks and we've already played many hours of ping pong. The whole family is enjoying this table! ... show more

great quality table, but if you definitely have to build it right and pay attention to details if you want it to stay sturdy. therefore, it's a two man job. you should strive to match up all the parts, corners, edges perfectly. or else you're wasting your money by assembling it poorly. so get some help putting it together. once together, it is easily folded or opened for play. stable. ... show more
