  • Fantastic Value Scope
Very impressed w/ this Bushnell Banner 3x9x40mm scope! Back-Story: Bought a muzzleloader a few years back to extend my early/late-season deer opportunities and it came with a budget 3x9 scope that worked... but left a lot to be desired. A few weeks ago I took the muzzleloader out of the safe to prep for a late-season hunt and discovered the ocular lens was bent almost 10 degrees out of straight! Not sure if it was dinged in the field or just from thermal expansion, but it became apparent to me it was time for an upgrade. Wasn't sure what type of scope I really wanted on the muzzleloader considering the effective range for a point target is really topped out at 100 yards. Looked at a few other LPVO (1-4x)/(1-6x) options and was disspaointed to find that the price-point for an entry LPVO was about the same as a traditional 3x9. I recently purchased a Bushnell range-finder for archery season and was really pleased with the lens quality/value from Bushnell. I've shot everything from Leupold to Weaver scopes on some other setups and decided that I didn't really need the clarity that a $300+ scope (Leupold/Simmons/Steiner) would offer when I'd rarely be taking a shot further than 50/75 yards. Got the scope mounted on the muzzleloader and man was I pleased! For $100 I was expecting a relatively short/tight eye-relief and some pretty rough/sloppy turrets, but I was majorly wrong. Eye-relief was very long and allowed me to shift the mounting point pretty far rear to clear the exposed hammer. I was also very impressed w/ the turret adjustments while bore-sighting the scope. I LOVE how solid the "clicks" are for each adjustment and am thrilled that it's just a simple/straightforward 1/4"@100yd. adjustment. Don't really need anything "finer" for the kind of shooting most of us do. If you're looking for a entry-level scope for hunting out West/bench shooting I think you may find the clarity is not quite up to par for sub-MOA groups. In that case, I would probably recommend bumping up to Bushnells "Prime" series of riflescopes if you're dead-set on a Bushnell. However, I would 100% recommend this scope for any setup where you don't plan on reaching out past 200 yards. ... show more

  • Poor packaging
Great value for the price. Packaging was poor. Scope came in it's own box wrapped in a little foam then put into one of those flexible envelopes. The cap on the elevation seemed to be pressed on really tight and was very hard to remove ( unscrew). The company that sold this product place a company sticker on it, this is unnecessary and cheapens the look. Don't know the accuracy at this time and will update in the future. ... show more

  • Awesome scope for the money.
While this scope has many great features, what sets it apart from the pack is the 6" of eye relief. This lets you mount the scope a very comfortable distance away from your eyes. Coupled with the very large objective, you can use this scope with both eyes open just like a scout scope. As many others have stated, the clarity and light gathering of this scope is amazing. Basically, if you can see it with your eyes, you can see it with the scope. The adjustment dials are finger adjustable and the markings are clear and readable. The fast focus ring is a great feature also. Only real downside is the size and weight of this scope. The picture does it no justice. This thing is just shy of 14 inches long. It has weight to match also. You will want to mount this on a lightweight sporter rifle to offset the weight. Thankfully my M44 is sporterized and was light. Now it has it's original heft back which is good for recoil. Considering the price, this is one hell of a good scope. ... show more

  • Solid Trusty Scope
I bought this for my father-in-law for his 22 magnum rifle. He hasn't had any complaints. Probably because it's the same scope that is on the .270 I use and I believe it's even the same as what's on his 30-30. It's an awesome simple scope. We hunt in deep woods so we don't need anything fancy with tons of tick marks or range finder capabilities. Most shots are under 150yds. It truly is a great dawn/dusk scope. We have to stop hunting 1/2 hour after sunset and can't shoot 1/2 hour before and this gives you great visibility to those limits even in thick woods. I've even been able to spot some deer I can hear but can't see with my naked eye before it gets light enough. Bottom line, it's a good trusty scope that truly has good light for dawn and dusk as advertised. And if you take care of it, it will last forever. ... show more

  • Not the best scope out there
Not the best scope out there, but works great on my ruger 10-22. If you want adjustable turrets and all the latest and greatest features look elsewhere. If you want a good value, waterproof, long eye relief scope for a value rifle this might be the one for you. Be aware of the reticle before buying. There is no drop or windage marks on this style. The clarity on this scope is more than adequate for my needs. It seems to pick up light well even at sun up/down. It may not be best on large caliber rifles, but on my .22 it is great. 1 inch groups with standard ammo at 50 yards from my 10/22. Holding zero just fine with leupold rings. I wish it came with scope caps, but for this price, I don't think they could. ... show more
