  • Fun and a good value
I live in a neighborhood built among a nature preserve so my back yard has a lot of wildlife. I see everything from deer to bobcats to coyotes. When I'm on the back porch and hear some rustling, I have a high-powered flashlight I use to take a look, but that usually scares away the visitors. When I saw these night vision goggles under $120, I had to have them. First of all, they aren't "goggles" or even "binoculars". Although they do look like binoculars, you don't look through a pair of lenses. Instead, you look at the screen and the lenses are what pickup the image. On the left is a single monocular camera lens, and on the right is a high-powered infrared flashlight. It's really a "night vision camera" as it does take video and still shots. It's not auto-focus, so you do have to twist the focus ring on the left side lens to get a clear picture. There is a zoom feature activated by holding down the +/- buttons, but I believe it's a "digital" zoom. Instead of moving lenses, it just reduces the image resolution to make it larger. Tapping the +/- buttons adjusts the brightness of the infrared flashlight. With it turned all the way up and the camera's menu for night vision menu set to "high", I was able to easily light up the woods at over 150 feet. I could make out individual trees, plants, and even wildlife. The camera is lightweight and easy to use. The buttons work well and the menu is easy to operate. It uses a USB port to recharge its internal battery and download images. While this is not true military grade night vision system, it does work well and is a lot of fun for watching nature at night. The price makes it a great value and I highly recommend it. ... show more

  • Good budget night vision. But not "goggles". It's a monocular. Uses an LED IR beam.
The Bush Tech Night Vision Goggles are an interesting budget night vision product. For one thing, "they" are not "goggles" (that's the plural noun used in the selling description) and they are not "binoculars" (also a plural noun used in the selling description), it is a monocular video scope, in the shape of a pair of binoculars. It displays the image from a single telephoto lens on a rear screen that resembles what you might see on a digital camera. The other barrel, the second "lens", is an LED IR emitter that can flood the zone with IR light to reflect back to the IR aware monocular sensor. Basically it's the same tech used for security cameras. With the IR beam off the visible light sensitivity of the unit is actually pretty good on dimly lit nighttime streets. In the non IR mode the screen displays in color. When you switch to IR mode it displays in black and white. The range of the IR emitter is impressive. It lit up trees and so forth over a hundred feet away. But to be clear, the Bush Tech Night Vision Goggle(s) does not read and amplify ambient IR light by itself. All that said, it was pretty effective at illuminating dark objects in night time light, not in a city, with very little ambient light. The monocular lens can be focused manually. The rear screen is bright and easy to read. The unit can also take single photos and record video, and save images and video to an included 32gb micro-SD card. For the money it's pretty good at what it does. But buyers should be aware that "it" is not "goggles" or "binoculars" and "it" does not read IR light on its own, it is a digital monocular that uses an IR LED emitter. ... show more

  • So cool!
These binoculars are so cool and fun to use! The image is digitized instead of looking through lenses like standard binoculars so that may put off some people but it also allows for some really cool uses. The night vision works really well and it is awesome being able to have such clarity at night. The biggest benefit to having it digitized is the ability to take photos and videos of what you are looking at. It is such a simple concept but really adds to what they can be used for. I’ve never wanted to carry around binoculars before, where now I find myself wanting to carry these with me everywhere. They are super lightweight and the image clarity is very good. The battery life is also impressive and lasts plenty of time between charges. The ease of transferring photos and videos to other devices is also a breeze since you can use a cable or the memory card. The interface is surprisingly intuitive so it only takes a few minutes to get the hang of all the controls. While it might not appease binocular traditionalists, it will be a really fun tool for most people. ... show more

  • Works pretty well up close, starts to fail further away.
Not the nicest pair out there, but it does work, especially up close. Images are nice and clear, and it makes it easy enough to see what is around. This is pretty good at the sale price.

  • Nice night vision googles
These are really nice and work well. I like them for daytime just as well as night and they work well no matter the time. As others have said, they do take awhile getting used to but that is because there are several buttoms that serve as the many nice functions that the googles provide. Until I looked at the directions, I did not have a clue on which button was which. However, the instructions are well written and made the job a whole lot easier. The googles take really nice pictures and videos and I cannot wait until deer or other animals are in my back yard so I can film them. I think the night vision works great and reminds me of some security cameras that switch to night vision; only I feel like these are better. Not sure if they are military grade or not as someone else mentioned but for me they are grade A. ... show more

  • Basically useless as night vision
These allow you to see in the dark but only for about 10 feet. Then everything basically dissolves into blackness. The brightness of the screen also pretty much ruins your natural night vision so transitioning from looking at the screen to using your eyes is compromised. The buttons to operate are easily manipulated. The plastic body is lightweight and feels cheap. Altogether, I struggle to find an actual use for this other than as a low end camcorder. Nothing your cell phone couldn't do on its own. 2 stars ... show more
