Overall, a beautiful piece of furniture, well constructed, great price, great manufacturer customer service, and very suitable to my needs for my office. Totally satisfied, highly recommended. I really love this desk. It is exactly what I was looking for, and I looked at a lot of them If you are trying to assemble the desk on your own, I have made some suggestions regarding the assembly of the desk on your own, based on my experience. I highly recommend that you contact Customer Service should you have an issue with assembly. Don't rely on my experience or how I managed to build the desk on my own. Of note is that the assembly instructions are pictographs , so look at them carefully while assembling. I did contact Customer Service regarding a damaged piece. They handled my issue professionally and with great friendly service. The issue was resolved promptly and a replacement part was shipped immediately, at no cost to me. I have a home office that had a built in desk of about 7' long. It was adequate, but did not provide the desk top area that I needed, nor the storage. This desk provided all of that. It is very well constructed, the components fit together with no gaps or misalignment. It comes with a file drawer, a supply drawer, an under counter cabinet for storage, as well as two shelves one I use to store printer paper (3 3/4 inches tall) over the cabinet, and a second shelf ( 6 inches tall) over the drawers, that I use to store a package of file folders, envelopes, etc. I put the desk together with no help. I installed the desk top on the larger base unit after completing its assembly (a deviation from the instructions), and moved the larger base unit into place with some help. I supported from bottom of cross piece, not picking it up under the lip of desk top (that area can be fragile and might not support the weight of the desk) and the other end was picked up under the desk top overhang on the cabinet side which is well supported well by the cabinet, to the position where I needed it placed This piece it is heavy. I connected the return piece (the one with the drawers) after assembling it separately, again a deviation from the instructions, and combined it to the the main desk, again without help, After connecting it to the main desk. I put on the desk top on the return as per the instructions. I can't comment on the assembly time, since I took my time thinking through what needed to be done next, without assembly help. This added to overall time it took, longer than the 3 hours assembly time estimated in other reviews. ... show more

I'm a 22 year old gal who, on a good day, can tell the difference between a wrench and a ratchet. I am not handy. Having said that, this desk was NOT that difficult to put together. It took me about 3 hours (including gabbing with coworkers in between), I had no help, and I made no mistakes. Other reviewers make it sound like this is the rubik's cube version of a desk. It is NOT that bad!!!! The instruction manual wasn't great, but if you just let yourself take a moment to get used to it and follow the pictures, you'll be fine. It calls for a second person but again, I managed it just fine on my own. I enjoyed putting it together, and the results were gratifying! Does it look like a thousand-dollar desk? No. Does it look nice, though? Yes. very. It is extremely sturdy. Everything fit well together. The color is a very nice, rich, extremely dark brown. It is well represented in the photo. The desk is a little higher than what most are used to, but I love the height. Any regular office chair will do just fine. The key to putting this desk together: USE A POWER DRILL OR POWER SCREWDRIVER. I cannot imagine putting this thing together with a manual screwdriver. It would take forever. Use a drill and you will save yourself a ton of grief and a whole lot of time. Overall, for what it is, I love it. The price is more than reasonable and I am very pleased with the product. Do not be intimidated by other reviews. I even have the desk facing out where everyone who walks through my office door sees what other reviewers call the "ugly" backside. In my opinion, it looks just fine. No need to place against a wall or hide in a corner! Very pleased and would order again! ... show more

    • Nice desk with some minor issues

Purely as a desk, this is a really good deal. The desk is handsome, functional, and sturdy. BTW, it weighs a TON. Just unpacking the two boxes full of parts was a chore. I consider that a good thing, though. Heavy furniture is strong and sturdy. This thing doesn't move when you lean on it, and it has a good, quality feel to it. I have a couple of issues with it, though. First off it the 'charging station.' It consists of 4 USB ports that sit flush with the top of the desk. It's a cool and potentially really useful concept, but it fails in execution. Coming off the bottom of the 4 ports is a single USB cable that needs to be plugged in to a wall charger. Even using a 2A wall charger, that only will deliver .5A worth of charging capability to each port? That makes for terrible charging speeds. Couple that with a wireless charger? No good. Take a look at similarly styled 'multi-port' charging stations for sale. These days you need to be able to deliver 2A to each port to make an efficient USB charger. This thing may work as a USB hub connected straight to a PC - I haven't tried that yet. Next is the 'Charging Station' that is a small, felt covered angled slot above the computer cabinet. The idea is that you run a charging cable from the aforementioned usb charging hub to the back of this slot as a convenient place to charge your phone. I can't see anyone actually using this that way. I mean, I guess you could run your own charging cable from a dedicated wall charger to here, but it just doesn't seem all that practical. An additional small drawer or empty storage space would be more useful. Next is the computer cabinet. I read a couple of reviews that talked about their PC's overheating in the cabinet. The included documentation says that computers should be operated with the door left open in order to allow proper ventilation. Again, not very practical. I took the added steps of drilling numerous holes in the bottom of the cabinet, and making 2 big holes in the side of the cabinet to add a couple of USB-powered cooling fans. They are very quiet and, along with the vent holes I made in the bottom draw some fresh air through the computer cabinet. I know that not many people are going to take these extra steps, but I feel it to be worth the effort. Assembly of the desk took me several hours, but I enjoy putting these types of thing together. The instructions were good and fairly logical, with each part well labeled. I was missing a couple of screws (I only had two of the four screws that attach the hinges of the cabinet door,) but they were easy to replace from my own stash. I know these sound like a lot of gripes, but in reality, I really like this desk. ... show more
