  • Great desk, awful instructions.
I purchased this item about a week or two back, so I've had a bit of time to use it a little inbetween work. I'll start with the biggest part; assembly. It's a huge huge pain, and the biggest problem tends to be the instructions. While the pictures aren't hard to see, and the quality of the pictures is fine, at times it's hard to tell what direction a piece goes or how it should go. The directions rarely have any written parts to describe how to assemble a certain section, and you're left to just go over the picture multiple times and make sure it looks the same as you're going along. Assembly for the desk took about a full day. I put the desk together myself, with no assistance from another person. The only part I needed help with was moving the desk in place. It's very awkward to move due to the L shape, and a little heavy. The hutch I actually had more trouble putting together than the desk. The pictures threw me off much more often than the desk did, and I had to unscrew parts at time and flip them around. The hutch is actually quite heavy, but is very sturdy once assembled. The hutch assembly took an entire day as well, I probably took more time with it due to just putting together the desk. and being off work that day, but it would take a few hours to put together regardless. During the end of the assembly I had help putting the hutch on the desk, and screwwing it in. It's just about the only part of assembly in which you will require some help. The desk looks great once it's completely assembled with the hutch on top. Holds a lot of stuff on the hutch, with some extra space to spare. Nothing about the desk felt cheap to me, only thing I couldn't stand were the awful directions which gave me a headache(literally). It's a lot bigger than I expected, but it fit in the room just fine. Just make sure if you have a smaller room, to do some measurements beforehand. All in all I'd recommend this to anyone who has the space, and time(not to mention patience) for the desk. ... show more

  • GREAT!
I was in need of a large at-home desk that would serve well for holding a computer and doing basic paperwork with and this desk has been wonderful. I highly recommend this to desk buyers. This is a beautiful desk and it is a very reasonable price compared to many competitors out there. It is not cheap composite board like most desks (although it is a form of a really hard durable composite board). It is heavy duty and very durable (can hold 200 lbs. on the desk surface)!!! The desk takes a long time to put together though and if you buy the hutch then it comes in a separate package, and the desk itself also comes in two separate packages. This confused me and I actually called the company to make sure of this. I have had mine for three months and I am very pleased with it. It is very classy and is a nice touch to any home office! It is rather large though and wieghts A LOT so it may take more than one person to lift and put together. I love it though and it suits all my purposes. The desk charger is also extremely helpful and the USB hub in the desk serves its purpose well!!! Great product and well worth EVERY penny!!! ... show more

  • Very nice desk for the money
I purchased the package with the bookcase and the lateral file. See my reviews for those individual pieces. The desk and hutch came very well packaged. While the outer cardboard box had the usual expected dings and tears from shipping, inside the box the desk is encased in thick styrofoam and each piece is separated by either thinner styrofoam or wrap. The hardware and directions are easy to find. Each piece of hardware is packaged in individual bags with the part number clearly marked on the bag. It was so easy to lay out the parts and grab what I needed. Yes, you should put aside several hours to put it together. I put most of it together myself, but I needed help at a couple of points. Make sure you have someone nearby to help. But it was easy to put together, and everything fit just like it's supposed to. Any issues I encountered were self-induced. A few tips. The backing to the hutch is put on with tiny long screws. Just nail those in. Look ahead a few steps as you proceed. You may decide to do things in a different order depending on your preferences. I glued the wood dowels for sturdiness but in retrospect and looking at other reviews, that may not have been a good idea if I ever want to move it, or worse, try to get it up the basement stairs. I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. The desk and hutch look beautiful when assembled! The glass fronts are a nice touch that you don't usually see in desks at this price point. The little cubbies in the hutch are useful for storing stationery. The USB hub is great since both desktop and laptop computers are sorely lacking in extra USB ports. There are a few dings that keep this from a five-star review. While the file drawer has nice bearing slides, the drawer has a simple wheel track that gives it a cheap feel and doesn't always glide smoothly. The charging shelf is really cool, but the insert isn't attached to the desk so it slides out when you are using it, but it should be removable to make it easier to reach into the cabinet to pull the USB cords through. I will probably add velcro attachments to keep it in place and still be able to remove it. Finally, the glass front cabinet below the charging station is kind of useless as it is. If you have a huge CPU I suppose that it's useful, but my small CPU doesn't take up much desktop and it's more convenient on top. So I may install a shelf in the cabinet. One more tip. This is composite wood with a woodgrain paper cover. Pretty standard stuff at this price. If you intend to use the desk alot, get inexpensive desk pads to protect the wood. You should do that with solid wood too, so this is not really a negative. Use a coaster for your coffee. Just common sense. The surface survived assembly perfectly so I expect that this desk will look great for years to come. ... show more

  • Excellent desk with great storage Excellent desk with great storage
I have assembled many different assemble-at-home furniture items. This one is a serious build, but simple to complete with good instructions. Desk took me about 3-hours and the hutch was another 90-minutes. The desk and hutch (when purchased together) come in 3 large, heavy boxes. The desk is sturdy and of good quality materials for this type of desk (pressed board). The desk is attractive and sturdy, with the exact combination of space and function that I required for a 2-laptop setup. I have my work computer and monitors on one side, personal on the other. The many shelves, drawers, and nooks provide excellent options for different items. It seems like this will last very well and looks like a much higher quality item than the price paid would suggest. Overall, I highly recommend. ... show more

  • studier than I thought this is an amazing hutch/desk combo! studier than I thought this is an amazing hutch/desk combo!
Color: White
better than the Bush office series A I have in my Den. this one I placed in my bedroom for my PC I use to play older games. The Hutch is confusing to put together as most of the bits are not labeled and some screws are mislabeled in the directions. I put it together in a few hours. it is a matter of keeping your "thinking cap" on at all times. If you put together the Old office desk/hutches from Bush this home style hutch is much more difficult. also you must assemble the drawers, PC cabinet and all the glass work yourself! that means the jointed holding for the hutches top glass door is a pull up and it must be carefully set not to go to low or too tight. I also recommend for the PC compartment(for thermal heat dissipation and intake of fresh cool air)I used a dremel tool saw blade to cut out a notch out of the floor board in front of the computer's fan intake vents within the computer compartment. in that way, you can leave the door closed when the PC is in operation(and not get electrical emissions from the PC which Dells, mine especially are notorious for!) I made some blue tack board for the hutch and lighting and glare boards for the front of the lighting as trim to give the hutch a better look and defined lighting while I game and use the keyboard/mouse. this way I can set the room lighting lower. the tack board, I made from scratch using 2 1/4 inch cork boards glued together and a deep sky blue cotton fabric put on with spray on adhesive. ... show more

  • A really nice computer desk-hutch combination.
At first I was reluctant to order something of the size and cost online, but I purchased it anyway. Turns out it was a very good decision. It isn't the easiest thing to assemble. Fortunately I could afford a 'handyman' who took most of a day to put it together. Now for the good stuff! It far exceeds my expectations. Who ever designed it knew what they were doing. There are simple things like having four USB ports and a hole for cables built into the desktop. The desk is attractive and sturdy. The hutch can be installed either to the right or left as you wish. There is substantial storage. There are six larger storage areas + five 'cubbies' perfect for those little things you just don't know where to store them. I've used one for my mouse, TV remotes, and headphones. If you are looking for a good computer desk + hutch, while a bit of a pain to assemble, you should give this one a serious look. ... show more

  • I picked a perfect desk for the price
I spent awhile looking through all the desks with hutches and am glad to have bout this desk. It took me about 1.5hrs to assemble yet was easy. Looks great on our rug over cherry hardwood and light grey with white accented walls. I got the other pieces as well, bookshelf and drawers. It’s been a few months of descent use with no issues. It is heavy once fully assembled and is a composite (fake) wood so keep that in mind if u are looking for real wood. It’s definitely a great desk that will meet the needs of any home or business office. We use it for home. I love having a enough space to work on as well as store and display. ... show more

  • Not a single screw
Color: White
Update: After calling Bush's and waiting for my missing parts, I didn't receive the cams. When I called again, I found out they were never ordered! I finally put the main desk together and it is solid. It's a really nice desk. I haven't done the hutch yet. I'm missing 3 more parts and one set of screws were the wrong ones. The missing parts are after assembly parts so I was able to get the desk together. I made the screws work and will call on Monday for my missing parts. I'm almost afraid to try to assemble the hutch with as many issues as I've had with the desk. Most of the screw packages were not labeled so that made it harder to assemble. The hardest part for us to put together were the drawers, which was weird for me. They're usually the easiest. The directions were pretty clear and once we got used to the process, everything went smoothly. I used the qr code for the slide assembly video and it was very helpful. Took us about 4 hours to do but we went slow as I'm disabled. It's definitely a 2 person job to finish the assembly. My bottom line is this company is full of incompetent workers who need retraining. Absolutely ridiculous the amount of missing pieces. Even though the desk is beautiful and solid, I'll never buy another Bush's Industrial item again. Ever. Original post: I'm sure this will be a sturdy desk once assembled. I bought the white and it seems to be decent parts. Sadly, I can't assemble it because I DIDN'T GET ANY SCREWS. Not a single screw, bolt, dowel, or cam. Since it's Saturday, I now have to wait to call Bush Industrial on Monday and wait who knows how long to get the screws. Plus, I have to schedule another Saturday to assemble it. They make it very clear to contact them if you have problems. It would be nice if they had someone available on Saturdays for those of us who work weekdays. Or maybe they should offer an email for after hour contacting. Also, the missing screws were not my only issue. The shipper was horrible. I waited 3 weeks to get a delivery date then they let me know the delivery date late Friday for a Monday morning delivery with a 3 hour time frame. I was ok with that. Then Sunday night they called to confirm Monday delivery. Very nice. But! Early Monday morning, they called to let me know it was being delayed and to call them to reschedule. I called immediately but they were still on after hours messaging. I called later and tried to reschedule but was told they overbooked their deliveries, bumped me to another day, and said I couldn't reschedule because my order was already on the truck.?!?! I got stuck receiving the order while I was in a meeting for work. My only other option was to refuse it and start over rescheduling. I wasn't about to do that! The delivery man was really kind though and handled my frustration like a pro. He said this happens alot. Between the shipping and missing screws, I'll stay away from Bush Industry items. This has taken too long and gotten too frustrating just to get a desk. ... show more
