The first one arrived with a broken side panel, I got a replacement that came with a broken bottom panel. Thank goodness I still had the other broken one so I could at least get 1 complete set. It is sad as I wanted to order more of this series to finish my study, now I’m pretty hesitant. I also have a broken foot so it is so much fun to handle this big heavy boxes by myself on crutches. Leave alone pack it back up, drag it to the front door etc so I could get the replacement. And then get it back inside to replace the broken pieces of the second one. Not very happy. ... show more

Pretty easy to assemble, all you need is a Phillips head screw driver and a hammer. It is very sturdy and have no concerns about moving it as needed. It also looks like a high end piece of furniture. It fits in well with my wood living room furniture, you can't tell it's particle board. I would recommend buying this and would purchase again. My criticism relates to the backing. It does not cover the complete surface area of the back of the unit, so you're left to center it yourself. This resulted in one of the nails not being affixed to the shelving and it came through the front surface of the backing (see attached pic). Thankfully I will have this area covered with books. With that said about the backing, you need to have the unit very close to the wall or there is the potential to see exposed particle board (the back of the unit is not expresso since the backing is supposed to cover it). Also, the nails for the backing are cheap and I broke two. ... show more

If all your going to do is look at it than buy it. Sawdust,glue and paper is what makes this. Total China JUNK. Gave it 2 stars for the customer service as it was missing a part. Is it a book shelve case. NO! It is not. Says shelves are for 25 LBS. After 10 the shelves started to bow. The good, nice to look at. After thought, if it was not together, back it would go. Too bad it's not REAL WOOD. Guess if you want something made from real wood, you have to build it yourself. Really a zip tie to hold it to the wall. That was funny. I spent hours and hours looking for office furniture that looked good, would be hopefully durable, easy to assemble, and fit my space requirements. Unfortunately, some of these are hard to determine without having hands on - something that just isn't an option for these bigger items. In any case, I bought this with a matching set that included this, a file cabinet, a smaller box type shelf, and a full L shaped desk with hutch. This fit in perfectly with the set and looked great once assembled. Overall, the product was fairly easy to assemble and came well packed. The wood is a standard particle board for most pieces. All you need for assembly on all of these different furniture pieces is a philips screwdriver and a hammer. I would recommend also having a partner to help assemble as some of the pieces can be a bit big. This cabinet was super fast assembly and decent enough durability. It requires a lot of nails to get the back on securely. It is nice since four of the five shelves can be adjusted to many different heights. As with any shelving, you want to put the heavier stuff on bottom, but this shelf is pretty sturdy on its own. Overall, the quality is better than the light IKEA type of furniture, but less than a high quality solid wood build. I would recommend it and haven't had any problems with it after using it day in and out for several months. ... show more
