I purchased two Burt's Bees lipsticks, and this is the second one I'm reviewing and is color #505 Peony Dew. This one is in the Glossy line of lip colors. It is a more neutral shade and is a pink with a hint of brown. This one also has a shimmer to it. It is very close in color to the other one I reviewed, Blush Basin, but has a little more pink. Color: Peony Dew
I got the colors "peony dew" and blush ripple". Blush ripple is more pigmented because it's a deeper color and unfortunately it doesn't suit my light medium warm skintone. It's like a blue -red pink and would suit a neutral or cool tone person better. Peony dew is the perfect nude peachy pink for my skintone though. It's more sheer than blush ripple & perfect for a natural everyday makeup look. Like it's obvious I am wearing something but it's not in your face, look at me and not at my makeup kind of way. I thought this Blushing Ripple would be a blushy warm medium plummy color like I saw in photos and on YT. It's a bright sheer cool bubblegum pink on me. For reference, I have very pale skin, strawberry blonde hair and pale lips so lip color products show true on me since I have no underlying pigment to affect the result. I realize now that on others, it looked like that pretty warm color because of their natural deep lip pigment mixing with the color. I was really looking forward to my new lipstick. I love burts bees everything. Unfortunately, the lipstick was smeared into the cap. All of it. I don't usually apply lipstick from the tube anyway, I usually scoop it into a plastic container (days of the week pill holders work perfectly) and apply it with a brush, but as far as presentation goes, REALLY??!!?? Obviously, QC was on vacation for this mess. Not going to send it back. Ill update about color and feel when I'm done being thoroughly irritated by a company I have used to years. ... show more
