    • Does what it says; wish it felt sturdier
4.5 stars—I’d dock it half a point for being composed of what feels like cheap plastic, and for having less than wow-worthy optics, especially at higher zoom levels, where the image is a bit dark. This isn’t a great scope per se, especially in low light past, say, 400 yards. But it does indeed do exactly what it promises. You need to get it zeroed well at 100 or 200 yds (and I think you can do a 50yd zero for rimfire, but I haven’t a clue why anyone would use this scope on a rimfire rifle!). Once you do, it’s fairly intuitive (after reviewing the directions) to obtain and input your ballistics for the cartridge you’re using: you only need two data points—BC and drop at 750–easy to find on Burris’s own online database. I zeroed at 100 on my Tikka 300wm. Once I did, I used the scope to range a small metal plate at 300 yds and hit it on the first try—and every one after. It’s big. It’s heavy. It feels kinda cheap. But it’s a powerful tool, and I wouldn’t hesitate to use it on a hunt. I’d just be really careful about banging it into anything. ... show more

I have used Burris Eliminator 5 for 2-deer seasons here in upstate NY paired with 30-06 rifle. Despite another review stating that the view is dark at dawn or dusk conditions this complaint fails to consider the best and most important feature of this incredible hunting scope. That is after entering your bullet’s ballistic data, the scope instantly and precisely measures the distance to the target and calculates the required hold over aim point according to the distance measurement and bullet ballistics. It instantly illuminates the correct compensated aim point in the eyepiece. During the measurement the rifle is shouldered and ready to fire. There is no fumbling around with a supplemental range finder and then looking back into the scope. Your venison could easily disappear during that time. I harvested 2-deer this season, one at 182 yards and the other at 210 yards using the Burris Eliminator 5 scope. Neither took a single step. I trust my hunts to Burris Eliminator! ... show more

    • Great optic
It is extremely easy to sight in this optic. If you are having problems, its operator error or a possible bad optic. However, operator error is most likely. Make sure your optic is secured properly to the weapon first off. Then use a gun vice or lead sled to secure your weapon as you sight it in.

    • I expected better
Bought the scope and mounted it to an AR 10 chambered in 308 have tried to get this thing sided in for months now the gun runs out of adjustment and can’t get the bullet on target because of this

    • Good scope but not worth the price.
Scope is ok. Extremely dark near dawn and dusk. Thought for the money would be getting a much higher quality product. The only thing nice is the range finder, but you can by one for under $100 and have a lot of money left over to buy a heck of a nicer scope.

So far this is absolutely amazing. I zeroed to 100 yards and programmed it with the numbers given to me on the burris website. Have yet to really stretch her out but glass is very clear and the scope is relatively lighter than I expected but well built and rugged. Very excited to go out to 600yrds soon and see how she does. ... show more
