We moved up to a Tail Wagon after using an off-brand children's trailer and then a Burley Bee. The kid trailers worked great for our two Dachshunds and two others before that. But this trailer is even better. The floor sits flat and while the trailer is not as wide, there's still plenty of room for Elia and Bruno. We added our own pad plus the Burley dog bed, so there's plenty of cushioning. Without having children in this trailer, the design is different in that the front and back frame tubes sit closer to the front and make it steadier for the dogs. The aluminum underbody is high-quality but also light. There's very little drag and I hardly notice I'm towing anything behind my e-bike. This model does not include a plastic rain flap, but we typically take our dogs out in good weather, so that isn't an issue for us. If you live in wetter areas it may be a factor to consider. One concern for many people is the drum-tight fit of the fabric, which makes the initial setup challenging, as it's hard to push the front and back frame tubes together. Grab a second person and loosen the side velcro panels to provide extra give to get the tubes in place. The clamshell design means the trailer sits nearly flat when you take it down. The wheels use a push button that makes putting them on the axles and taking them off a breeze. While Burley trailers are expensive, compared to other brands, they're still a good value. I was first introduced to the Burley brand when I came to Eugene, Oregon, the company's hometown, in 1979, a year after they began selling their child trailers. At the time, they were controversial, as some parents questioned whether it was safe to transport children that way. When they found it was, sales exploded. Burley started the craze and is still the leader. It's always amazing to me how many older trailers you still see being used, although the dog trailers are of a more recent vintage. Our dogs love riding in a trailer. We roll up the front mesh cover (hooks provided to attach them to the cover). They stand up the entire time. The back cover, which also has a mesh window can also be rolled up if you want to let your animals look out the back. Some owners leave the entire cover closed. And with side mesh windows, rather than the plastic of the kid trailers, air circulates very well. The only small negative is that there aren't any hooks to attach a leash. We use a splitter tethered to both dogs' harnesses and attach it to a dog seatbelt run through the space between where the front and back tubes meet. Burley doesn't recommend restraining dogs in their trailers, likely for liability reasons, but that's never been an issue with us. We ride mostly on a 10- to 20-mile route on Boise's paved Greenbelt, so the risk of an accident is pretty low. All in all, this is a very solid pet trailer. One of the rear reflectors was broken when I took it out of the box. Burley, rather than try to figure out whether it broke while in the custody of Amazon or the post office, readily agreed to replace it itself. I appreciated that

Overall, my experience with the tail wagon has been great, my dog likes it. I typically ride on a bike trial that has steep hills and sharp turns and was worried about tip over accidents but the trailer is exceptionally stable. That's what matters to me most. There are a couple of issues worth mentioning. Unfolding the frame is supposed to be easy. The front and back is held together with a clip, but bringing the frame in position to clip together took a lot of push and pull. The instruction warned not to pinching the fingers, however it did not give any hints on how to prevent injury and I did end up with a blue fingernail. The bottom is made of lightweight cardboard-like material. The front corners tend to pop out of position and started to frail. I wish there was a better way to keep it secured to the frame. The wheel has a push button to attach and release. The plastic covering over the button fell off on the first trip and I now have a bandaid over it to keep the dirt out. The canvas material seems durable, but the mash windows are less so and I already have some small holes. Ideally, the mash would be removable, but it's not. For larger damage the entire shell needs to be replaced, that sounds like a waste. The back flap is closed with elastic loops. If a dog really wants to get out it can slip out from under the flap. There is no built in hook to attach the leash. One thing I really miss is a wheel break for parking. When my dog jumps in or out the wagon starts rolling and the momentum can tip over the bike.

I LOVE this pet trailer. I have put about 1500 miles on the first one, and just purchased another for my wife to pull our new puppy. They pull smooth and quiet..no annoying rattles . Very easy to manage openings ang very durable.

Some good; lots bad. The good is that the bike trailer is well constructed and easy to hook up to one's bike. It also folds down nicely for the car and it is not heavy. The optional bed fit nicely inside. The bad news is that it is 100% not safe for dogs. The reason: you cannot close the roof/cover flap in a manner that secures the dog inside. The closure of the flap is not a zipper closing in the dog; nor is it a series of plastic latches along the flag; but instead it is simply two little elastic cords (thin at that) at either corner of the cart so that the entire front of the enclosure remains easily opened by the dog inside, as it was for my dog. Nothing actually closes the cover! It is remarkable that Burley didn't notice this. On our very first and only ride, my puppy kept 'escaping' right out the front of the flap, and if it wasn't for the fact that my wife was riding behind me to keep an eye on how things were going, we would have lost the dog. Once this happened on the ride (Acadia carriage paths), we had to lash her leash to the rear cross bar (there is no interior hook up option, either, as there is in a dog car seat for example), stopping several times to shorten up the remaining leash as much as possible because even then she was making her way out and just dangling outside the trailer. The ride was awful for her and frightening for us. And all of this could be avoided had the cover fully zipped close. Returned it. If they add a sturdy full-around zipper, I'd buy it. (the image/video attached is after she was lashed to the interior cross bar to keep her from getting out but the remaining leash length was still too long to keep her from getting out).

This item is pricey but really well made and easy to assemble. The directions were easy to understand. It has a hard bottom so you may want to put a pad on the floor. It will fit a couple is small dogs or a large dog easily. I would have hoped for the price it would have had a restraint inside to hook up to a harness, but no. I used one of my car restraints and jury rigged it to the frame. It worked ok. Now for the bad news. My dogs hates this trailer. He did the high pitched anxiety bark every time. I thought short rides to a park close to home would help him learn that good things come from this. After daily rides for a month no luck. He never adjusted so now this expensive rig is parked in my garage. Too bad. I wanted to help us both to be able to get some exercise when the pavement is too hot to walk on. He has the park, I have the bike. Hope you have better luck.

Expensive. This is a very nice bike trailer for our little pup and I have no complaints on how it tracks behind the e-bike. I do however want to inform everyone that you can get a Vevor Dog bike trailer 88# for less than half the price of this one. The Vevor can be used as a walk behind stroller with an adjustable handle for pushing. It rides as smooth as the Burley tail wagon and has built in storage bags in the back it also tracks smoothly behind the e-bikes. We recently bought our Vevor Dog Bike Trailer after our pup had surgery while in another state. Had we known the high quality of Vevor and its reasonably priced we would never have purchased the Burley at its high price

Me and my dog love this trailer. Over the years I have purchased a Tourist (long time ago), a Nomad and now the Tail Wagon. They all have been excellent and stood the test of time. In my opinion, nobody builds a bike trailer like Burley. The name says it all. They also have great customer service.

We enjoy the tail wagon but it was a pain to assemble. Getting the bar to latch correctly took a lot of effort.
