Description

The Bunnel Premier is an upgrade from our Bunnel Pupil. The Premier is an excellent choice for a beginning student. It features an upgraded quality of wood, providing a richer, warmer sound. Natural Oil Finish The oil finish is a unique feature usually seen on more expensive violins. Student-level string instruments from other retailers at this cost are typically coated with a thick, glossy lacquer finish that hinders quality tone production. The Ricard Bunnel has an authentic, hand-rubbed oil finish. It not only looks more professional, but remains true to historical, tried-and-true standards of hand-crafted violin making. The construction, finish, fittings, and design of the Ricard Bunnel Premier give this instrument a warmer and more projective sound than other similarly priced instruments from other makers. FREE expert setup by our staff of professional luthiers is included with your purchase to meet or exceed all MENC specifications and standard measurements. At Kennedy Violins, the luthier staff ensures that each violin is individually setup, tuned, and inspected to our highest standards. Your violin will be ready to fine-tune and play when you receive it—not sent to you unstrung or in pieces as from other online retailers. Professional set up includes: What makes our string instruments the best on the market? We purchase each violin directly from the maker — a rare practice that allows us to set high quality standards and lower our cost — passing the savings on to you. Next, all final assembly and FREE setup is performed locally in our Washington State shop by our professionally trained luthier staff. NO assembly or setup is required with a violin that is ready to fine-tune and play from the moment you open the case. With both the highest-rated violins and customer care in the U.S., we are the only company confident enough to back up our instruments. Experience the Kennedy Violins difference! Follow these instructions for the most accurate size: First, with arm outstretched to the side, measure the player's arm from the base of neck to mid-palm. Check the size chart below for the right size of violin according to arm length measurement. Always choose the smaller size if the student is in-between sizes. A larger instrument will hinder the student’s ability to play properly. The deciding factor is if the student is able to, or very close to, playing the 4th finger. If they can reach this fingering the violin will be usable. Please use the sizing chart below to assist you.

  • Very thorough quality check! Perfect condition!
Size: FULL SIZE
I decided get this violin and was surprised by how thorough they are with quality checking the violin! It even comes in pre tuned for you, which I thought was nice of them. It’s shipped in a large box and very secure! If you’re unsure which violin to get as a beginner or you’re relearning to play one, this is a perfect, good value, and fun violin. I rarely ever write reviews for things, but I wanted to express that I highly recommend this! ... show more

  • Well made, great sound and case, prompt service, cud give more than 5 stars!!
Size: FULL SIZE
They are very reliable makers I can say that by their beautiful product. A lot of care has gone into making it perfect with the velvet lined box and the great violin, i am a beginner at it and i started using the bow as soon as i got my hands onto it and the sound was deep and not at all scratchy even for a beginner like me. I mailed them that they had missed the rosin and the wiping cloth and there was an instant response from the company that they would replace it. I had checked the boxes that had arrived and could not find the rosin. However, the next day i found the rosin in a receptacle inside the violin case that had a small flap to pull. I informed the maker that i had found it but he said that i could keep the rosin as an extra cos it had already been sent out. So the service has been very prompt and they have been kind in their responses. So i would suggest that you check the receptacle inside the case and not just the accessory box for all the things they pack away with it. I had read of rosins missing in their previous reviews, so i guess that also added to my bias and subsequent overlooking of the receptacle. Hope you find ur rosin :) I am very happy with my purchase , their craftsmanship and services. ... show more

  • Best student violin for adult beginner
Size: 4/4
.For a student violin, this has a beautiful tone. Kennedy Violins has chosen a great line of violins for students. As an adult beginner, this has been a good investment. After about 5 days the tuning has remained completely stable with only minor fine tuning needed with temperature changes.even though I ordered this online, not knowing much about various violins, I’ve since been to the Kennedy Violins shop in WA. The staff there are wonderful, friendly and helpful. I did get a different shoulder rest from the one provided because of my short neck and high collar bones. ... show more

  • great violin
Size: 4/4
I have ordered this violin sometime between january en february 2014. But i'm just now placing this review because i wanted to test it first. This violin is a lot better than the violin I had. When I opened the case, I was surprised. It has a rich sound, it's nicely finished so the violin itself looks nice and I can notice they have put some work into the details. Even my violin teacher was surprised at the quality (good quality, very reasonable price), because he had suggested another brand of violin and I have completely ignored him to get the G1.The bridge from my first violin was not properly set/made, therefore it was hard and frustrating to play. Since I had the G1 I enjoy playing the violin and it is properly set. The bridge is height is proper, the pegs and fine tuners are easy to turn. However I don't know what's wrong with the bow, but the screw is hard to turn. Before I got this violin I have contacted the seller, to ask for information and they even give me the opportunity to chose the color of case I wanted. And since I stay in the Caribbean and could not order directly from their website, I could not order an upgrade package. But the seller manage the find a solution for that and I was very pleased with their customer service. The customer service is top notch, and they respond very quickly. When I got the 'violin' there was a mistake with the order and I have got the package and case without the violin, bow and rosin. I immediately contacted the sellers, they have apologized and after a few days they have sent me the G1, rosin and bow. Si even tho I had to spend a little more, because of the mistake, this violin is worth it. Eventually I have received the G1, the included bow and Kaplan dark rosin, d'addario prelude string and an extra set of strings. To me they all seem to be from e good quality and does the job. I also ordered the upgrade package, which included a music folder, metronome/tuner, cloth and music stand. I did not like the music folder because it's like a carton and has Kennedy Violin all over it. I don't think the music folder they offer can hold all my sheet music. The metronome/tuner however is very handy, looks nice and works as expected. The cloth has their brand name on it. And the music stand (with the carrying bag) is a folding music stand and is easy to set up and transport. But the music stand is not so sturdy, when it's set at it's maximum height. I wish it was bit taller (I'm about 5"0). Overall he music stand does it's job for me, it holds my thin violin book and my s3 (at the same time). I don't think you could put a map full of sheet music on it tho. Furthermore I love the case, it's from a good quality and is well made. There's enough space to put shoulder rest, and all the other accessorizes. On top of the case there's place to put violin books/ sheet music etc. (Note: the case you get with the violin G2, is cheaply made, lower quality, and has Kennedy Violin sewed on it, which I think is very ugly) Recently my violin G1 has a 'hissing' like sound when I play it, I think it's because of too much rosin on the bow, let's hope that's the case and that the hissing sound will fade away. After some inconvenience (because of the mistake) I'm pleased with this purchase, the money is worth it and their customer service is amazing. I recommend this violin, and this seller. Oh did I mention that you get the violin with some candies in the package, who does that? Yupp Kennedy Violins! tasted good, reminded me of my childhood. And if you doubt that they professionally set-up the violins, you also get a check list and the date on it as a prove that the violin is professionally set up. Hadn't they made a mistake with my order, I would have rate it 5 stars. ... show more

  • 1st time violin player...
Size: 4/4
I am very pleased with the quality of the violin as well as the service provided by Kennedy Violins. I am currently 2 months into playing my violin and it still sounds just as beautiful as when I first got it. I was unfortunate enough to receive a defective bow (hairs came loose after a week of two or practice), however, after a calling about it, Kennedy violins happily replaced it, and I haven't had trouble since. I would recommend that you buy a separate book to learn violin if you really want to get into violin playing, as the included book only contains violin fundamentals, but it will still boost your ability to begin playing. For people who have never owned an instrument prior, here are a few tips: •Make sure you know what size you are before buying a violin (yes there are different sizes) •Keep in mind that wood instruments especially needs proper care in order to maintain its performance (look up online for more info) •Do not be afraid to use your rosin! And please do not scratch the rosin with your bow or fingernail to apply it. "Good rosin does not require much force to apply". For the first time the bow may not contain rosin, if so apply with about 10-20 bow strokes across the rosin to, and after that about 6-10 bow strokes 1-2 a week depending on the amount practice you do. Don't quote me on exact numbers : P Have fun!!! ... show more

  • Recommended by violin teacher
Size: FULL SIZE
I first got my daughter another highly rated (on Amazon) violin, but as soon as she started classes, her teacher told her it would not be usable by the time she could use a bow. The pegs did not stay in place, but this one tunes well enough. She recommended this one since we wanted to buy a cheaper starter violin, and it is so much better! We did replace the shoulder rest with a Kun, but otherwise just what we needed! While not for advanced players really into timbre, it sounds pleasant for a beginner. It's a good value for the price (especially since, for me, there are no nearby stores to rent from). It comes fully assembled and ready to go. ... show more
