I ordered this because we live in an older house on top of a hill, and the whole house has settled/ continues settling at quite a downward slope, so much so that my husband has to sleep in a constant battle against gravity, trying to keep from being forced out of our queen size bed. With my husband sleeping on the side closest to the door, which is also the side on the lower end of the slope, in addition to him already being heavier than I am, this is a losing battle. I ordered the twin size to put under only his side of the mattress, in hopes that it could help. It helps some, but we really probably need about three or four of these Bunkie Boards stacked to make a drastic enough difference, and at the current price, we simply cannot afford that. We will supplement with something else... maybe some sheets of plywood. This item is upholstered, which would be less likely to damage or snag the mattress than plain old plywood, but maybe a sheet around the plywood could work just as well. I can see scenarios in which the thinness of this Bunkie Board could be preferential, such as simply additional support under a sagging mattress that's on a bedframe with a side rail/ side guard for safety: in that case, you'd want this board to be thin. It is heavy and seems very solid. The upholstered fabric layer around the boards does not seem like it's as durable as it may need to be, and seems like it will snag pretty easily. Overall, if thin additional mattress support is what you need, and the price is within your budget, this may be an okay value.
