So I'm not sure if they're actually called by name a bunkie board or if that's just the brand, however, I have this for my daybed and my mattress once it's on you will never see this but I can I can update you on how it's it will feel the mattress actually is not going to be showing up until next week at that time the mattress that's on it is like about 18 in thick so I can't even tell if this monkey board is it's doing anything or not the mattress is so thick it's too much of a mattress so we're downsizing I figured the bunky board would be helpful because if the mattress wasn't so thick you would probably feel maybe some of the rungs of the frame and we don't want that either so I will update you in about a week to see how it feels and I will give you a quick look of what it looks like when it's when it's on the daybed. When it's in position you should feel no rungs it should be a nice comfortable daybed to sit or sleep on. ... show more

Item is 36 inches wide when the standard twin size mattress is 38 inches. I mistakenly bought these rather than the proper 38 inch wide ones, and returning is a nightmare. I'd avoid.

    • Bunk Bed Game-Changer: Perfect for Kids Who Prefer Futons
Size: Twin Color: Black
This $79.99 polymer bunkie board is a specialized solution for families looking to transition away from traditional mattresses without sacrificing support. We specifically used this on our daughter's top bunk because she prefers a Japanese-style futon (shikibuton) over a standard mattress. Why It’s Perfect for Futons Traditional bunk bed slats are often spaced too far apart for a thin futon, which can cause the sleeper to feel the bars or let the futon sag. This board creates a solid, even surface that makes the futon feel like it's on a proper floor foundation while remaining safe for an upper bunk. The Highlights: Material Advantage: Unlike wood, the high-density polymer is moisture-resistant and breathable—critical for futon users to prevent mold or mildew buildup from body heat. Noise Minimizing: It’s incredibly quiet. There’s no creaking or wood-on-metal friction noise, which is a major plus for a child's top bunk. Low Profile: It adds virtually no height, ensuring the safety rails of the bunk bed remain at an effective level. Portability: It's lightweight and easy to slide into place, even in the tight quarters of a bunk bed setup. Value for Money: At roughly $80, it is a durable investment. While plywood is a cheaper DIY alternative, it lacks the breathability and finished edges that protect both the bed frame and the futon fabric. Final Verdict: For anyone using a Japanese futon or a very thin mattress on a slatted frame, this is a "must-have" to ensure comfort and longevity. - Pros: Anti-sag, moisture-resistant, completely silent. - Cons: Higher initial cost than basic wooden slats. ... show more

This board is great! It does exactly what it’s supposed to and it does it well. It’s exactly the right size and it has ties to help it stay in place. I got it for my son’s bed and it immediately felt better. He’s a little boy so he only has a 6 inch mattress so this prevents him from feeling the hard boards at the bottom. I think this is a great product. ... show more
