These black out curtains are a velvety type of material. Nice quality. Grommets make it so easy to open and shut. As you can see from my picture the black definitely filters out more light than the gold, but I would still consider them really good at filtering out the light. Would purchase again.

These curtains are very charming in their look and the velvet feels nice. If you want total blackout these are not for you. You can't see in or out through the curtain but light does get through and won't completely darken a room.

These curtains are good for a room that still needs some light to go through. I put them in my office for a north facing window. I had some expensive light blocking curtains previously and it didn't let any light through. As you can see in my photo, these curtains still have some light going through. The product description states 60-70% light blocking but I would put this at the lower end of that, 60% tops. The material is a soft velvety material. The stitching is a bit uneven in places but it's unnoticeable at any distance. If you need a true light blocking curtain like they use at hotels then I would look elsewhere and prepare to pay more. However, if you need nice looking curtains with grommets that will let some light in, then these would be a good choice. ... show more

These are nice color curtains, but as you can see from the pictures, they do not really block the sunlight. The fabric is soft to the touch and feels rich, and the color combination is awesome, but when it comes to sunblocking, they don't really function well. in the product description, they say the curtains block out the sunlight 70-80% but based on my experience I can tell it is around 50%. ... show more

These curtains are color block, not light blocking - that’s key to note when ordering. I misread. That said, once I opened them and felt the fabric, I decided I wanted to hang them anyway, and I’m glad I did. I love the silky velvety texture and keep touching them as I walk past. The most accurate way I can describe the texture is like chenille. They say velvet, but it’s smoother than that and not as rough or thick. I chose the ivory and grey, and they’re perfect. Easy to hang because the loops are basically enormous grommets. They have a nice heft to them (not too heavy but just enough) so that they hang nicely and swing out of the way completely when open. Behind the curtain in these photos is a door, and we were worried about the curtain getting caught in it when we go in and out, but when the curtain is open, there’s enough weight to the fabric that it doesn’t billow into the path of the door as we close it. I hope I’m making sense trying to describe this. I’m definitely keeping these. I love the way the light looks in the room as it comes through this material. It softly diffuses the light while allowing it to stay light enough to see fairly well. ... show more
