  • Fixed sight a bit off - add the laser
Great product. Have had for a few days, used on tinfoil targets, and killed one spider. My only complaint is that the sight isn't adjustable (the sight could easily have been designed as adjustable), and the plastic fixed sight was off by 3/8 inch at 30" out. I then got the add-on bug-beam laser sight for $20, that arrived from Amazon Prime in a day, and that is the way to go anyway, as it turns out (which I may not have bothered with if the fixed sight was more accurate). Recommend getting the gun with the addition of the bug-beam, which can be adjusted for laser-point accuracy, or adjusted to "just below the fly" if you find the beam scares them away (haven't tried yet, but heard it may not spook the fly). A really strong pull on the trigger is required. I had to check if the safety was on a couple of times, before realizing how extremely hard the trigger pull was sometimes (maybe gets better or more consistent with use). The version of the gun with optical sights notes that this trigger-tension issue is resolved with that model, but unfortunately, that model couldn't be shipped to me in California. I saw a post noting the Amazon state-shipment limitation was due to materials used, not gun laws, but have not confirmed the real reason. Hopefully there will be a "4.0" version soon that addresses both the issue of trigger-pull tension and the sight accuracy (ideally by making the sight adjustable). ... show more

  • An extreme amount of fun and works great
This version has a standard style of safety. If you have kids in the house that you don’t want using it, look for the green version. That one has a safety that is required to toggle after every shot. These are loaded with standard salt from your table. Will snuff out horseflies and moths with a couple shots, standard flies and similar bugs with single shot. Caution it absolutely will hurt someone if shot point blank and will put your eye out for sure. Also the cleaner of the house may be a little irritated by salt grains all over the house, has a spray pattern like a shot gun. ... show more

  • Work for wasps too with close up
I have a wasp problem on my sliding glass door and around my beehive outside. I'm able to blast wasps and take them out as long as I'm fairly close. Need to be within a few inches to get a disabling shot. Sometimes it takes more than one shot, but it has been very helpful for my wasp problem. Haven't been stung yet. Would recommend for wasps over that nasty spray. ... show more

  • Hours and hours of fun.
The bug-a-salt is perhaps one of the most fun pest control devices on the planet. A tablespoon of salt, one bug-a-salt, and a plethora of large sluggish flies will provide hours of fun. Who knew that technological improvement to a fly swatter could turn your evening into a wild west shootout game? Objectively, the bug-a-salt works excellently and is accurate and effective at 2-3 feet. 4 feet becomes a real challenge for the hunter, and any distance beyond that is almost always ineffective. The bug-a-salt is also a great deal of fun exploring the many modifications available, including lasers, sights, or even printing your own modifications with a 3d printer. The only downside of the bug-a-salt is salt and dead flies everywhere. ... show more

  • More power than original
My original bug-a-salt knocked flies down, but wasn't usually fatal. Often they shook it off on the ground and buzzed up again. The new one seems to be much more lethal. Haven't seen any survivors yet.

  • I love it, wife hates it
I have a 4yo and 5yo son, the doors of our house never stay closed for long in the summer. This thing is great for the flys that get in. The wife is annoyed about the occasional bit of salt that gets left around but I just tell her that I'm also protecting the house from evil spirits... Now that I think of it, that might be why she doesn't like it... LOL ... show more

  • Takes a few shots to kill a typical housefly.
Don't think you're gonna be using this to kill flies mid-flight. You have to wait until they land, take careful aim from a foot or two away, pull the trigger, and then follow up with a kill-shot or two at close range. The main tactical advantage over using a fly-swatter is that you are much more likely to catch the fly by surprise. Plus, it's way cooler to have a gun laying around your kitchen than a fly-swatter. But do watch out, because those close-range shots can send fly guts splattered in a 6" blast radius, which could include food-prep areas, or even your wife wearing her disapproving scowl. ... show more

  • Accurate
This product is a game changer for killing flies, not only is it accurate but it’s fun to use. Everyone that comes over thinks it’s super cool and we’ve even purchased a couple for friends.
