I had difficulty with other cables that didn't have the FTDI chip in recognizing my Baofeng UV-5R on macos with High Sierra 10.13.6. The cable comes with printed instructions that are clear and easy to follow, but I couldn't get the radio to download data within the chirp software. The instructions state that if your cable doesn't autodetect and install the drivers, you should download from fdichip.com. During installation, you may get an error that it failed and you need to open System Preferences > Software & Privacy and allow the installer from FDI permission. For me, the installer finished but the radio wouldn't sync (restarting didn't help.) I needed to run the installer a second time, after the FDI installer was allowed permission to run. Additionally, I removed the antenna from the radio due to chirp's warning to "Ensure that the radio is tuned to channel with no activity" in case that had any impact. ... show more

Did work for a while, cheap price. But it programmed. Fell apart but after all it’s foreign made and it’s up to Chinese quality 😂

Works well with the Baofeng UV-5R on CHIRP and the GM15 Pro with Radioddity's GM-30 programming software. Very good quality. It definitely feels well made and not cheap! Great bang for the buck.

    • Insert Firmly In Radio
I had trouble getting the programming software to work. I emailed technical support. They told me the plug needs to be inserted firmly into the radio. Once I used more force to insert the plug into the radio everything works great!
