Perfect for what I wanted it for, we have no grassy on our tiny home lots, just rocks. I used the mat to make some “grass” and a little lounging area beside the house. It’s perfect for it, had a few bumps from the way it’s packaged but they have flattened. My little own patch of yard!

It's a piece of turf, nothing more, nothing less. When you take it out of the box, it will have some pretty gnarly creases and shed grass for a few days, but it eventually flattens out and hasn't shed since. I don't have a dog, but I liked the idea of a grass-like rug for my balcony. I am working on making my balcony an oasis, and this pop of vibrant green makes my eyes happy and keeps my feet cool from the hot cement. It took a few days for the rug to recover from its packaging fully, and there was some shedding. The rug is surprisingly thick and seems like it will be easy to clean. This is the second piece of turf I ordered, different brand. I used the first piece as a test patch for my doggos to see if they'd use it for pee pee during storms. But that was unsuccessful. Instead I found that this is a nice barrier for the doggos to lay on as a barrier on top of the concrete and under the shaded pergola. The product came folded and to flatten the previous piece out, I left it out in the sun for 2 days. We shall see if the same works with this product. So far, this grass rug sits outside of the sliding patio door because one of my doggos like to lay and lean against the door. This'll potetntiallynpreveb additional heat contact when she lays there. Also, it serves as a rug for human to scrape off some dirt and/or step on barefoot. I found the grass rug to be pretty soft, not like the real thing, but it is not prickly or scratchy. Overall, I think the quality is pretty good with nice traction pad underneath. If this works well, I may consider getting a larger one for my sitting area. ... show more

    • These 'astro turf' mats/rugs are great for pets and entryways.

I've evaluated several of these 'fake grass mat' products, and, except for the one that has no drain holes on the bac, they have all held up well, and have been fairly easy to keep clean. Well, leaves and dirt come out with a leaf blower, but one of them had a racoon or possum barf all over it, and that one took a good bit of pressure washing to clean off, esp after it has sat in the sun for a day!! So not quite such a fan of it for potty training uses. To be expected, I suppose...don't expect baked in or ground in 'dirt' to just fly off it! So far, visitors have remarked on how 'novel' the 'green thing' is for an entry matt (wipes dirt off shoes very well, too). It does retain water for a while after a rain, but that's also to be expected - it dries out in about day. (The one I got w/o drain holes never dried - it had to be hung from a line in the sun!). The animal visitors (feral cats, racoons, possums) I get also seem to like the stuff too - not quite sure why? On a whim, I placed this one indoors, next to the Big Window, where my rescue feral cat likes to sun himself - and is now his very favorite napping spot!! Didn't see that one coming! Must remind him of living in the wild? (But w/o the coyotes, eagles, foxes and dogs, etc - what's NOT to like?!) Anyway, it remains to be seen how well these things hold up to winter weather, and whether they remain flexible or stiffen up like boards....they do shed a bit when unpackaged, and if not 'blown dry' occasionally, will load up with dirt and "stuff'. Mine needed to be sat out in the direct sun for a few days to 'unwrinkle' it, but it flattened out nicely. If you like a splash of 'fake green grass' at your door, then these are a great solution!! This grass rug is very nice. The grass looks realistic. When you walk on it it is a little rough it’s not soft. It also sheds so I’m glad this isn’t going to be in an area where it gets a lot of foot traffic.
