  • Awesome ball. Score improved immediately
Size: 12 Color: Blk/Blu/Slvr Pearl
I'm fairly new to bowling and I know these balls have been around for a long time. But I wan't to put my two cents in for other people new to bowling. When I ordered mine, I ordered a 12 pound ball. The only ones I used previously were alley balls that were never comfortable and hard to hold since I have small hands and fingers and the ones at alleys feel like they're drilled for people with 18 inch long hands and pencil fingers. When I took my ball to get drilled, the super knowledgeable guy there said with my build, a 12 pound ball like this would go to waste because I would launch the ball without giving the weight inside a chance to put a hook on my roll. So he gave me a 14 pound Rhino instead. Drilled it just right. And holy cow, he was right. My very first roll went right into the gutter because I was aiming for the center like I always did and about 3/4 of the way down, It had a mean hook to the right (I'm a lefty). Within 3 games I was rolling a 150, which is 100 more than I was getting using alley balls. Moral of the story: If alley balls aren't comfortable, don't think a properly drilled 14 or 15 pound ball will be too. You need the weight proportional to your size. ... show more

  • Great hooking ball
Size: 13 Color: Red/Blk/Gld Pearl
I have a 15 lb Hammer bowling ball that is at least 35 years old, which I quit using on a regular basis in league bowling 28 years ago for one reason or another. I started up league bowling in a seniors' league a few years ago and realized I had no where near the average I use to carry. To make things worse, I had a reverse shoulder replacement (of course my bowling arm) two years ago; and, could no longer throw the ball like I use to (speed and accuracy). I tried bowling with house balls using different weights, and discovered I now need a 13 lb ball. I saw the Rhino and read the reviews, and after seeing it on sale, decided to give it a try. Wish I could say a miracle happened and I now have my previous 167 average back (I never said I was a great bowler), and that everything is wonderful in the world of bowling - no such luck. I have managed to increase my average now from 122 to 124.. This ball has an awesome hook, that I am just now starting to control (this week I had a 422 series, which is great for me). I have been using this ball for about four weeks; and, I only bowl once a week in a senior's league. Bottom line: it appears to be a great bowl for the casual bowler; and, the price is great too. I would not recommend it for a beginner. ... show more

  • Wish I didn't do finger tip.
Size: 14 Color: Blk/Blu/Slvr Pearl
I can only really take off one star as I don't know what I'm doing. Bought the ball and got finger tip drilled (first time useing that), bad idea unless you know what you're doing. I am so much worse with this ball its embarrassing. I can't really blame the makers for my not knowing how to pick a ball and drill holes. But this will have to be a practice ball. I need to find another and get it conventional drilled. Update 12-2-19 After bowling with this ball awhile I've improved and gotten a lot more use to it. I've not mastered the curve yet but I'm getting better. I got a used ball and drilled it conveniently. It's hard as hell to switch between the two. My next ball will probably be lighter and drilled finger tip. While I'm not great at aiming the curve I love to watch it curve, lol sometimes right into the gutter. ... show more

  • Chipped after 5 Games, Not Durable
Size: 14 Color: Red/Blk/Gld Pearl
I wanted to start getting serious with bowling and chose this as my first ball. It was very nice and I am pleased with my purchase, for the price and the hook is nice, not impressive but great for beginners standards. When I went in to my pro shop to get this drilled, the guy warned me about the durability issues of this bowling ball and he was right. I play correctly and do not do stupid things to damage my ball but yet it keeps chipping constantly. Luckily no chip are on my track so hook isn't affected but it really bothers me how weak the bowling ball is. I'm moving on to Storm's bowling balls and hopefully something that won't chip on the first day. ... show more

  • Very happy with the Rhino
Size: 14 Color: Blue Metallic/Black
I'm not a powerful bowler, so I wanted to get some spin into my game, and I got tired of the alley balls which don't spin much at all. This ball definitely gives me a good amount of hook. I average about 160 per game, so take this review for what it's worth, but I'm very happy with the Rhino. I know it's not a high-end ball, but it does exactly what I want it to do. Even when I throw a "straight" ball, it gives me a little spin that you don't get with an alley ball, and I'm able to work with that. Make sure you get a good fitting! It makes a world of difference. ... show more

  • Good ball for amature bowlers
Size: 14 Color: Red/Blk/Gld Pearl
I give this an average rating since I have not tried other balls other than the Brunswick Twist which I use for dry lane conditions & the Columbia Saber 300 which I use for med/heavy oil conditions. This ball is good for light oil conditions has a nice spin and hook at the finish. I have mine finger tip drilled w/finger grips and thumb slug in it. Its good for the price I'm getting back into the game after a 30yr plus layoff. The cover stock is a bit fragile I've had some chips repaired but if there not in the path of roll its not necessary. My average is gradually increasing so I have no real complaitns ... show more

  • Great ball super responsive!
Size: 14 Color: Red/Blk/Gld Pearl
After years of throwing curves with a straight ball, it is taking me some time to adjust my throw because this ball is SUPER reactive and really grips the lane! It cuts hard close to the pins so I just need some time to adjust. Love the look of this ball, a great value!

  • Some crazy Hook
Size: 15 Color: Blk/Blu/Slvr Pearl
It is crazy how this ball can hook so deeply.. just when you think its gonna hit perfect. It hooks across and just misses the head pin. Some adjustment and wow.. I bought one for my Son and one for my son in law.. 13-15 lb This ball goes deep before the hook and when you get it just right it has the power to push through.. I know it's a cheaper hook ball. But unless you have hooked before this one might be a level abo e beginner IMO.. BALL LOOKS GREAT HAS CRAZY HOOK POTENTIAL comes undrilled ... show more
