Description

Brooklyn Pickleball Co. was co-founded in 2021 by husband and wife team, Luke & Rachel. Both passionate pickle-ballers, but Luke is a sprint-down-the-court kind of player, while Rachel is more of a martini-in-one-hand, paddle-in-the- other kind of player. They set out to create a line of paddles that appealed to both, without compromising on quality, style, or design. Brooklyn Pickleball Co. paddles are created with only the finest materials, and designed in-house at their Brooklyn-based studio. This is a great looking pickleball paddle. We got this for my wife, and she really likes the color and pattern, and has gotten a lot of compliments on the paddle when we've played pickleball with friends. At this price point, you're getting into the intermediate range of paddles. Before this paddle, my wife used a honeycomb-core paddle from a less expensive set. Compared to that paddle, this Brooklyn Pickleball Co. paddle (polypropylene honeycomb core, carbon fiber surface) is a big improvement, and it will certainly be a huge improvement for anyone using a wooden paddle. In terms of performance, this paddle does have a sweet spot with nice "pop", but is dampened around the edges. It's a light paddle at 6.9 oz and favors finesse over power. Shots leave the paddle face uniformly and the paddle has good control. The paddle face is smooth and isn't great for adding spin, but that's not what my wife's after. The grip is soft and very comfortable, but like all white grips, it yellows slightly with use. Overall, this is a great beginner or intermediate paddle. I'm a beginner player so wasn't ready for something $100+, this looks great and is easy to use and is a good value for the money. The grip feels good in my hand and I'm able to get a nice spin and good speed on the ball with the paddle surface. This is a mediocre beginner paddle that is the same as (or actually probably inferior to) any cheap 4 for $50 deal you will find here. I have been playing pickle about weekly this summer and am now playing against decent competition. The reality is, you need to spend $80 and up to have a paddle that will give you sufficient drive power and control to confidently play against decent competition.
