These are the best tongs I have ever used. I like that the one side is completely flat like a spatula, makes easy to get under what ever you are cooking. Had these for about 4 years now and typically wash the gripping ends by hand. Every so often, they get put in the dishwasher. Now I notice that there is hardly any spring tension and upon examination the spring is severely rusted. Rest of the tongs are not rusted. The bakelite pieces are still fine. Usability comments: The long length is good for reaching the back of my large grill. I liked the flat part of the gripper end as it is like a mini spatula and eases lifting off fish or meat that sticks to the grill. However, lifting large marinated pieces requires more pressure to prevent slipping. Sometimes it can be a challenge to lift small pieces. I just use a smaller tong with teeth on both ends of the gripper for initial lifting. I prefer not to have two tongs out at the grill but its not a big deal. ... show more

    • Well designed and appears to be a bit better made than other brands
I've only used this grill tong a couple of times but that's enough to really like it. I've used various grill tongs over the years and most worked well...at least for a time. The problem with all of the decent ones I've used has been the rivet in the pivot spring area that holds the two sections together. That little cheap rivet eventually breaks and makes the tongs unusable. I wish makers would use a bolt/nut/washer arrangement but I suppose that would cost more and it would also have a tendency to loosen over time with loss of parts likely. The Broil King also uses a rivet to hold the tong halves together but the rivet they use appears of superior quality to and somewhat thicker than any of the previous tongs I've used. I guess time will tell if it wears out like the other tongs but it does give one confidence. The design of these tongs also seem superior to me. Not only are they heavier duty metal but one side of the tong is flat like a spatula while the other side has rounded teeth. This allows one to slide the tong under the food item easily with the spatula side while gripping it with the tooth side. It works well for burgers and steaks. Heavy items will still need a second tool or hand for lifting to prevent dropping it. The only negative I can come up with concerning these grill tongs concerns the plastic trim on the pivot end that covers the spring joint. That piece was press fit and it came off immediately. No big deal, it doesn't affect function and it really doesn't affect the cosmetics of this tool much at all. So far I'm luvin' this grill tong. ... show more

    • Good quality but heavy
First of all the quality is very nice! It matches my BroilKing Pro grill (that's the reason I bought it lol ) and because I use with Broil King grill it does not fall of when the cover is put on or taken off but there is a huge down side for me, hence 4 stars, it is very heavy.

Finding this tool very useful for all my grilling. The flat side slips under your food, the ridged side gets a good grip. Rarely use my spatula or fork any more. Nice heavy duty construction allows you to handle heavier cuts of meat without worry. Extended reach keeps your hands out of the heat. I'd like it better if the locking mechanism was steel not plastic. Still, I'd buy another and consider it a must have grilling tool. ... show more

These are without a doubt the sturdiest BBQ tongs I’ve ever owned. I can easily lift the red hot heavy cast iron grate on my Lodge Sportsman’s Grill. They are great for recharging and arranging charcoal during grilling. The flat side is great for flipping burgers or getting underneath steaks.     • Manly hands required.
I don't cook enough racks of ribs to justify these big tongs. They're nice an sturdy and good for an extra pair, but not the ones I reach for 1st. They are a handful for my little hands to manage too. If you're a man 6' tall with manly hands to match these might feel perfect.
