First, I have a Berkey water filter at home. It has two cyljndrical charcoal filters. This Brita water bottle has a similar mini cylindrical charcoal filter within the straw. Pretty cool design, and it's like a mini Berkey. The water bottle is also a thermos bottle. I put luke warm tap water in it and put it in the refigerator. Six hours later, the water was still luke warm. At work we have an ice and water dispensor. I first put a little ice into the Brita, then add water. That water stays cold inside the water bottle all day. As for replacing the charcoal filter...i know that when my Berkey filter gets clogged, i remove the filters and sand down the outer surface of the charcoal, rinse clean, then reinstall and I'm back in business. With this Brita, I'll find out and update as regards the longevity of the charcoal filter, but even if I have to replace the filter every 3 or 4 months, this product is a winner. Also, the way the top snaps open to access the straw, and the handle to carry it with a finger or two, all attest to the well thought out and engineered design of this water bottle. I really enjoy this water bottle and honestly don’t see myself buying a different, IF ONLY to replace this one after years if necessary or to get a bigger one! My husband used ours in Disney and it was a perfect way to save money, drink clean water and easy to carry. It easy to clean, great quality, keeps the water cold or at least a nice refreshing temperature and overall I just really enjoy this. The only draw back is when you get to the end, you think you still have water but the straw makes it hard to reach so I just refill it towards the end. But I really enjoy this bottle ... show more

It's great for the price. Bottle is durable and keeps water decently cool. My only issue is with the cap design. Because it secures the cap with such a thin amount of plastic, and the handle is attached to the cap, over time it inevitably fails. This one lasted a little less than 2 years and there are no replacement caps I can find. Brita please fix! ... show more

    • This worked great! Daughter used all summer for internship instead of buying water bottles.
I bought these for my daughter that went away for the summer. She used this in the place of buying water bottles all summer. She refilled from filtered water fountains and the brita provided extra filtering and carbon filtering for taste. She has no stomach issues drinking the local water with this. Again, she was using a filtered fountain to fill, but the taste was off until she used the brita. Worksmed all summer. Filter works on gallons and gallons of water. Replacement filters are inexpensive (about the price of one bottle of water) and are easy yo replace. Cleaning is easy. Disassembly is straight forward. Bought more for my other kids. This water bottle works very well. I would not use in place of my grayl for emergency and external water sources, but it was definitely a money saver that worked all summer for her. ... show more

Love these bottles! As you can see I have a few of them. I don't like the taste of the tap water where I live and this helps so much! I definitely recommend buying the 32 ounce. The smaller size doesn't hold enough to make it worthwhile to carry around. The metal ones (far left and far right one in photo) are heavier but keep the water cold for a long while. I've left the metal one in my hot car during a heatwave and came back to find the water still cold! The plastic one (middle) doesn't keep it cold but it's lighter. The Brita company has amazing customer service. When I had an issue with the filter, they sent me a new one right away! ... show more

I can't think of anything bad to say about this bottle. A bit too big and heavy (I bump it against everything while walking and it sounds as I'm carrying a bell) but it's got to be if it's metal, insulated, and holds as much liquid as it does. Filters are easy to come by, and activated charcoal is a pretty good filtering material. If you don't _need_ the capacity, the smaller version is probably nicer to carry, but this one is OK, too. The mouth piece is hard to wash, so keep in mind you can find replacements for it here on Amazon. ... show more
