  • Powerful, stable, durable, non-deafening blender
Color: Brushed Stainless Steel Size: 68oz
TLDR: Do it! This blender was a birthday present to myself because I wanted to get into green smoothies for health reasons. I was tossing up between this and a Vitamix. I went with this one because of the noise factor. First, volume: I would not call this a quiet blender, but it is not so loud that it transmits noise throughout the house as my previous blender did. A few closed doors can keep most of its noise contained. The “voice” of the blender is more of a grrrrr than an eeeee. The “clean” function is the loudest. It’s not obnoxious, but if you’re in a 2br apartment with a roommate, they’re gonna hear it. If your roommate is on a different floor and not right above/below the room you’re blending it, it may be lightly audible but not intrusive. I have the latter situation and my roommate does not notice it. Blending/Smoothness: very very good. It fibrous veggies like cabbage, carrot and kale, and blends them down to absolutely nothing (I buy a bag of this pre-shredded mix because I’m lazy, and I toss in a handful or two with every smoothie, and you’d absolutely never know it.). Total smoothness. The only time I get a gritty feeling is when I add something like hemp seed protein, which only blends down to a certain point anyway. But I dig that sometimes, a chewy smoothie. No complaints here. Motor: POWERFUL. You can hear that from the first time you use it. There’s a built-in fan that runs when the blender is using a high-speed function, such as the clean function. This adds very slightly to the noise, but not so much that it’s bothersome. I expected significant vibration, because I am a blender pessimist, but the base is solid and stable. There’s no rocking and little "trembling" of the jug, even when blending clunky stuff like ice. You can turn it on and walk away, and trust that it’s not going to wiggle itself off the base. Functions: For me, the functions are perfect, because I am a simple lass. There is a button that literally says “green smoothie”, and another function that says “clean”. Pretty much all I use. You press it and walk away. There’s a great safety feature that you can’t turn the base on until the jug is securely in place. I was pretty impressed by that. Each function has a different program and a different duration. For example, the green smoothie program runs for 50 seconds, of which the first 30 are straight up blending, and then there’s some aggressive pulsing to mix in anything that might’ve gotten stuck towards the top, and then more blending at the end to get it super smooth. Very clever. There is a "pushing" tool for.... pushing stuff down, and another thing that was a cross between a spatula and a breadknife, I guess? Silicone and very useful for getting all the goodness from the inside of the blender if the smoothie was particularly thick. Cleaning: super super easy to clean. Now having said that, sometimes you DO need to wash it by hand, or there are bits that are stuck to the sides that the clean function just does not remove. That is normal and to be expected. It’s not a MAGIC blender. If I give the jug a quick rinse immediately after I use it, making sure to rinse away any stuck-on stuff (protein or collagen powders, etc…), the clean function works much better and really does get the interior sparkling. Value for money: this was definitely a splurge for me. Was it worth it? The thoughtfulness of the design and the clear intention to make this a blender for every day, easy, seamless use, make that a yes for me. My last blender had to be taken apart and each component washed to get it hygienically clean. The jug was also made of heavy glass that I was always nervous about breaking (doubly so because I broke a glass blender jug while washing it in a porcelain sink, when it was soapy and heavy and awkward... it just slipped out of my hands, fell three inches, and smashed), whereas this blender's plastic jug is surprisingly lightweight yet durable. As I mentioned above, this blender is incredibly easy to clean: you just throw in a few cups of warm water and a drop or two of detergent, put on the lid, set the blender jug on the base, press "on", and press the “clean” button. Then a quick rinse and inspection and it's onto the drying rack for tomorrow. I don't ever really put it away. I like things to be easy, so the really pleasant user experience of this blender is worth a lot to me. Combine this with fantastic blending power, nice design, and a lightweight but durable jug… for me that makes an impressive package. Again, this was an indulgence. While I love it and use it almost daily, there’s part of me that will always remain shocked that I spent this much money on a blender. Cons: Two for me. One is the spout. With thick smoothies that come out slowly, any significant "back up" as the smoothie exits the spout, kind of dribbles around the edge of the spout. I am also impatient and want that smoothie in my mouth, but shouldn't this be factored in for a quick pour? It's NOT a dealbreaker by any means and I'm nitpicking for sure. "Pour it more slowly, lady... sheesh", you say, and you're right to judge me. The second con for me, again NOT a dealbreaker but a mild annoyance that might be a PEBKAC problem, is the lid. Firstly, it’s a pretty amazing lid and that it fits VERY securely on top, with almost a feeling of suction. Like, nothing is getting out. The design is quite ingenious. There is a great little stopper built-in to the lid itself so that you can add ingredients as you're blending. However, the lid of my blender fixes SO securely to the jug that it's sometimes hard to remove it by pulling upwards on the plastic loop at the back of the lid. I always feel like I’m going to break the loop of, but that has not happened so far. Everything else is great so I’m not taking off a star. I am a strong lady with strong hands, so I imagine a less able-handed person might have real difficulty putting on and removing the lid. Oh, and PRO-TIP: I got the stainless steel version. This thing is GORGEOUS so please go nuts and get the champagne or the dark blue. It's a lovely design and looks very high quality. I regret trying to be classy instead of flashy, as I always do. Anyhow, great blender. If you’re on the fence and you can work with the price point: jump. ... show more

  • Best blender!
Color: Brushed Stainless Steel Size: 68oz
Let me preface this review that this is my 3rd blender in the past 10 years. I started out with Ninja which was good enough, but left a lot to be desired. 2nd was a Blendtec blender which replaced the Ninja not because the Ninja died, but I wanted better blending. I was wowed by all those viral videos many years ago in their "Will It Blend" YouTube series and just had to get one. Now I don't use my blender very often, but when I do I want it to work. I used my Blendtec just over 300 blend cycles (it displays the blend cycle count - which includes cleaning blend cycles too- on the screen so you know). It just started making a burning/hot smell so that was it. I can't have it catch fire on me so it had to go. This was most disappointing as it was about 7 years old with such few blend cycles but out of warranty. If I would have used it daily or weekly early on it likely would have filed during the initial warranty as a defect. On to this Breville Super Q. W-O-W! This blender rocks! I did go back and forth between all the major known brands but settled on this one after watching a few reviews on YouTube. The blending is great. Smoothies are the smoothest I've ever had. The texture of the blended drinks is amazing - and I honestly wouldn't have thought it would actually be different but it really is. I make a lot of frozen fruit smoothies and this even blends most of the strawberry seeds so much you can't taste them - something the old NInja would never of even dreamed of and the Blendtec only was partially capable of. The other plus is this has a 10 year warranty - longer than a lot of the other big brands for a lot cheaper. As a plus, this includes some accessories I had to purchase separately on the Blendtec - included are a to-go blending cup, tamper, and rubber spatula! Those by themselves are probably $100 worth of accessories. Not to mention the quality of superb - heavy, well built, everything fits and seals perfectly. Overall, super happy and highly recommend. It is pricey, but if you catch a sale it's even better. ... show more

  • A perfect, upscale, and powerful blender worth every penny!
Color: Brushed Stainless Steel Size: 68oz
Updated review So this is an update after exactly 75 days of ownership. The Super Q super died. Unbelievable. It became stuck on high runway hyper-speed and gave the error message “overload protection.” Now it will run exactly two seconds and shut off. After some hassle and answering stupid questions like “is it plugged in?” Breville is sending us a new one under warranty. I appreciate that but good grief this is rediculous. Hopefully this was just a lemon. Time will tell. Original review Got this to replace our 34-year old Oster! What a difference, just wow! We use this every day for smoothies. It is so, so powerful, and so, so smooth running. No vibration and stays solid in place on the counter. No need to hold it while running. I was skeptical about self-cleaning but a drop of detergent and thorough rinse and it is perfectly clean. We always let it dry out before closing the jar back up. It crushes ice and purees frozen fruit in an instant, and does quick work of nuts and spinach. Introduces minimal air, so no more bloated smoothies! Got this for an incredible Black Friday deal too good to pass up. We liked it so much that we got the Fast and Furious model for our daughter at college. It is equally capable, albeit not as powerful nor as upscale feeling. Just a fantastic blender that feels solid in the hand and in use. We use both carafes depending on serving amount. Have also milled oats to powder and made butternut squash soup. ... show more

  • Good blender, bad Vac Q
Color: Oyster Shell Size: 68oz
The blender is light weight but sturdy and works great for all intended operations. I purchased the Vac Q attachment to get the air out of smoothies and soup. The Vac Q worked but it failed after a year (somewhat light use) and no longer appears to be available even though it is still a featured accessory. The Vac Q is the reason I bought this brand over the top seller competitor. 😖 ... show more

  • Great Blender for Making Protein Drinks
Color: Brushed Stainless Steel Size: 68oz
Does a great job of blending the food products I use it for. It was suppose to be the " most quite model" of blenders according to a few articles I read before buying this model. I believe the articles said the noise level measured a 81-85 decibels. Less than the other brands/models. To me it is still loud compared to the other models I have used. A vacumme cleaner is at 75 decibels so you can be the judge of how loud the blender is. All in all a good blender and I am glad I purchased it, so far. It is powerful enough to break down the ice cubes for protein drinks. That was the issue with the other blenders I have used- ice chunks not broken down enough to make it smoother to drink through a straw. That is mainly what I bought this blender for. Using protein drinks as a supplement for someone after they have had surgery. Easier for them to drink protein drinks in between their regular meals. More expensive than other models but powerful enough to do the job. ... show more

  • If you like the Breville, get the Breville – I'm not at all sorry I didn't get the Vitamix
Color: Brushed Stainless Steel Size: 68oz
When we wanted a new blender which would be capable of chewing through kale and chard, as well as making hot soups, and iced desserts, *almost* everyone said the Vitamix was best. However, I knew people who'd bought top of the line Vitamixes, gotten lemons, and no support from the company, so that made me very nervous. Finally, there was one professional review which recommended the Vitamix with the caveat "… but if you like the Breville, get the Breville", as it was apparently so close in performance as to make the difference negligible. That was advice I was much more comfortable with because I did, in fact, like the Breville. I've had very good luck with their small, kitchen appliances. I like their support. I liked the design of this blender much better, with the same controls Vitamixes have, but with a timer which counts down as well as up, and with easily identified buttons for the most commonly used tasks as well,. (I'm of the belief that since they've developed the machine for those tasks, know its capabilities in and out, and presumably know how to get the best results from the machine for the most common tasks, I shouldn't have to reinvent the wheel, without the advantage of the same knowledge base.) And, by golly, those presets work well, really well. In addition, the power/timer knob also shows me names for the type of action higher and lower settings provide, which I find more meaningful than just numbers. As for noise, any blender is going to be noisy, but the pitch of this is not the typical whiney pitch most have, but slightly lower, which makes it more bearable. Also, the fan, which keeps the motor cool, while adding slightly, adds a bit of white noise, which contributes to its being less of an annoyance than other blenders I have experience with. I have been very glad I bought the Breville! We've been having green smoothies nearly every day, with no issues with unblended tough greens. I got the Vac Q Blender Vacuum Pump after we'd had the blender for long enough that I knew I loved it, and find that wonderful results are even easier to obtain, with a less airy texture, and the color retained. I love that I can make sorbets easily, as they're a healthier alternative where iced desserts are concerned, and it's become difficult to find any but the most banal flavours in the markets. Hot soups are a snap to make, though I've had to search for recipes (often in Vitamix cookbooks, just to get ingredients and proportions) – once the ingredients are in the jar, they're just a simple push of the soup button away. I've also found the Super Q Blender works as a backup mill for my MockMill, which I usually bring out on bread baking day; and that it does an excellent job on other grains, as well as wheat, and spices. The only downside to that is that Tritan polyester jugs (of all brands) do tend to get cloudy when extremely hard, sharp objects have been whizzed around in them, and they do pick up color from some foods, such as turmeric (which eventually goes away if I don't use turmeric in it again for several uses), but those are just asthetics issues. It bothers me that they claim the base is brushed stainless steel, but it is non-magnetic, and actually a stainless steel color. It would be nice to know what it really is, information we Americans are used to having. It's quite solid, and not something I'm going to move around much, but has convenient handholds built into the lower base, so that I can easily reposition it from where it lives on my kitchen counter (next to the Breville Sous Chef food processor which is also near and dear to my heart). It does not move around on my countertop when in use. Would I buy this again? In a heartbeat (assuming I had the ready cash at the time)! It's definitely worth the cost, if you're ready to splurge on your forever blender which won't leave you wishing you'd gone for the fully capable blender of your dreams. I've had mine for approximately a year now, and never wished I'd bought the competition. Thank you for reading my review. I hope you found it helpful. ... show more

  • Powerful blender, but not quiet, terrible for smoothies, and huge.
Color: Brushed Stainless Steel Size: 68oz
I bought this blender largely because it was supposed to be powerful but quiet and good for making smoothies. The traditional blender part does blend very well. But, while it's quieter than the Ninja I had before, that's not saying much. Most importantly (to me), it is terrible for smoothies, which I make often. The smoothie blade is not sufficient for the height of the tall smoothie container. Whatever you put in that container first will get stuck on the bottom--unless you add a lot of liquid and like your smoothies more the consistency of juice. I usually have to take it off the base at least once during the smoothie process to shake or stir. Isn't that what blenders are FOR? Almost worse, the machine somehow creates a kind of vacuum that makes the smoothie lid/blade extremely hard to twist off, especially for my arthritic hands. I do not need extra pain every morning. Finally, for my small kitchen, it is enormous. You'll need a space at least 10 inches deep by at least 8 inches wide to store it, plus extra counter space to pull it out from under any overhanging cabinets for use. Both the containers are very tall, and when placed on the base the total height is over 18 inches. ... show more

  • Breville vs Vitamix A3500
Color: Brushed Stainless Steel Size: 68oz
I had an old vitamix that I loved for 10+ years - I have a smoothie for breakfast almost every morning for at least 8 months out of the year and my old vitamix was amazing at making my morning smoothie, But then the container on it cracked and when I went to replace it just the container was going to be like $170. I couldn't justify spending that on a container for a motor that was 10 + yrs old and I liked the idea of the new series of vitamix that have the smaller containers that can be used for mornings that I want a smoothie and my hubby wants his bacon and eggs lol so I ordered the A3500 What a disappointment it was ! the container is cheap plastic and not made near as well as my old vitamix and the small containers are too small to do any good - it was quite pathetic at that price point and especially knowing the replacement cost for the container - it did not blend near as well as my old one nor live up to the brand name so I returned it. Not to mention it was like an additional $150 for the extra containers ( eye roll lol) Breville includes the smaller container for free. I am a breville girl and own many breville products so I ordered this Breville super Q - quite honestly it does not look as pretty IMO as the red A3500 but it works 100 times better ! - I also don't like it as well as my old 10 yr old vitamix but again- I do like it much better than the " new and improved" version the single container is a perfect size and the container and base are much better made than the Vitamix. the overall quality is quite superior to the new Vitamix and it blends beautifully. the base is heavy enough that I don't have to stand there with it - I can push a button and walk away from it - everything about this machine is high quality- I just wish it came in red. The only other issue I have with it is the suction is so strong it can be difficult removing the lid- however this creates a different level of freshness. there was an overlap between when I received my Breville and returned my A3500 - I made a smoothie in each blender - and the smoothie from the Super Q tasted much better- it wasn't foamy and frothy like my old vitamix but it had a much smoother- fresher taste. - I wouldn't have thought it would make a difference in the taste but somehow it does. the Breville creates a smoothie that is completely blended while the smoothie with the A3500 kept separating and had to be constantly stirred. If you are trying to decide between this and a new vitamix - IMO this is a much better choice. - hope this helps.n ... show more
