I have had a night guard since 1989 and a retainer since 2005. I’ve always had trouble cleaning them and tried several products and brushed them every morning with poor results. I even tried denture cleaner that turned the clear plastic to yellow. There just weren’t many products for this purpose. The ultrasound cleaner at my dentist’s office helped but once or twice a year wasn’t enough. Then I found this retainer cleaner from Breelex on Amazon about 5 months ago and also founder a great container specifically made for retainers (so much better the the free ones from the dentist). The tablets fizz when water is added and the container has a second part with holes in the bottom so you can drain the solution and rinse them for use the following night. I’m very happy with this cleanser, the night guard and retainer are now clean and smooth.

Works like a charm. Tastes faintly of mint, but gets deep in areas where a normal brush cannot. Very easy to use, just put the tablet in some water with the retainers and let it sit for ~15 minutes. after that rinse and theyre good as new, it managed to deep clean mine after they had not been deep cleaned in over a year in one pass.

I have one retainer made of the more expensive plastic, and one made of the cheap kind. Over the years, the cheap one had become stained from my silver fillings leeching a black color into them. Unfortunately, I don't have the before photo, but I took a picture of the after photos. After using these for at least a week or two, it completely removed every trace of the black stain. I had previously tried to remove with baking soda and scrubbing, but nothing else worked. So that was a nice surprise. I really only bought this as a hassle-free cleaner and wasn't expecting the stains to be removed. The cheaper retainer did remain cloudy however, while the more expensive one is more Crystal clear. I'm thinking it's because the cheaper one just has wear that can't be removed, but I'm not sure. The only downside to this is I often forget and leave them for many hours instead of the recommended 3 minutes in the cleaning solution. It leaves a kind of weird slimy film on the retainers. However it comes off pretty easily after running it through water and rubbing with my fingers. I do feel a little odd about whatever chemical residue is left on this, but I'm not too concerned. Overall though, they seem to do a great job and I'm sure they remove bacteria and build up that is hard to reach with brushing.
