Description

The classic funny story about a stubborn little badger with very particular tastes in food.Frances is a fussy eater. In fact, the only thing she likes is bread and jam. She won't touch her squishy soft-boiled egg. She trades away her chicken-salad sandwich at lunch. She turns up her nose at boring veal cutlets.Unless her parents can come up with a plan, Frances just might go on eating bread and jam forever!Join the generations of families that have laughed along as Frances sings "Jam on biscuits, jam on bread, Jam is the thing I like most, Jam is sticky, jam is sweet, Jam is tasty, jam’s a treat—raspberry, strawberry, gooseberry, I’m very FOND…OF…JAM!" • An adorable story and great beginner book
Format: Paperback
I read this book as a child, 36ish years ago, and it’s still a great book. It’s very relatable for a child, as they go through period of only wanting 1 thing to eat for lunch. The readability is great for a level 2 reader (kindergarten-1st grade). We like that it’s not super short like other beginner books. A very cute classic I’m glad to experience again with my daughter. ... show more

  • Fun book, encouragess good eating habits.
Format: Paperback
We used to read and reread this book to our children, who love Frances. (One of our grands is named Frances.) All of the Frances books encourage empathy in a child, and are very entertaining. We enjoy the poetic songs that Frances sings to herself. Our 4 year old grandson was inspired to eat a more varied diet after reading B & J for Frances. He now tries to take a bite of each item on his plate, making it all "come out even" as Albert does when he eats lunch with Frances at school. ... show more

I love this book, as a teacher and as a parent. I gave it to my nephew for Christmas and now all he wants to eat is Bread and Jam, so sometimes the best of plans often go astray.
