I purchased this for my husband after watching my husband constantly trying to "jimmy-rig" his old razor in the mornings before work. So, first I did some research. If you're going to purchase a razor that costs hundreds of dollars, be sure you know what you are purchasing. Then, I read the reviews from multiple websites. I really liked those comparing the different series. This is how I ended up with the Series 8. Really, it does everything the typical man wants his razor to do with dependability, speed, and endurance. Things my husband has commented on since his first use at the beginning of the year: the battery lasts forever but he still ran an electrical cord from under the bathroom vanity to the drawer where he keeps it for quick charging when needed without clutter to counter space; the cleaning solution is really awesome and the refill packs are generally on sale on Amazon; the ability to get a close shave without much effort is nice and leaves the face smooth; no need to moisturize your face after a shave because of the lift of hair from pores while shaving is smoother-skin of pores are not irritated in the process. I really like that this shaver is quiet and not annoying before I have my morning coffee. I really don't even notice he is using it during our before-work routine. I do notice his skin is softer and smoother. If you are a wife looking for a gift your husband would love but would hate asking for because it is an "investment," this is it. My five year old series 7 flip up trimmer failed and wouldn’t close, razor still worked fine. Happy to see it got redesigned, like the old better but it wasn’t durable. The replace was $25 a fraction of the cost to buy new but reviews of it being a difficult job and made of “cheap” plastic that broke during replacement. So I decided to buy new, Braun makes a great razor. The on/off button is either designed or placed different cause during normal shaving I keep turning it off. I bought a Braun Series 7 in 2015 and used it pretty regularly up until a few days ago. The locking hinge broke years ago which didn't really bother me, but the pop out trimmer broke and that was what prompted me to get a new shaver. All the things I think I disliked about the Series 7 have been completely solved with the Series 8. I love the fact that the cleaning station now has an active fan element to help dry out the shaver head after the cleaning cycle. The shaver itself has a wider head and gives a much closer shave than my previous one, even with a replacement head. It's so simple and easy to use, I'm glad I decided to get another Braun. Like the easier shaving experience. Not real happy with the cleaning/charging kit. Takes longer and just a minor touch will stop the process. Have to be very careful when handling the razor in the kit

I had one of the less expensive Braun savers years ago. This new shaver is a huge improvement. Shaves as close as a blade, it is amazing! I also love that it is self cleaning and lubricating. A problem I had with previous shavers I would have to cut longer hairs with the trimmer then go back over the area with the shaver. This shaver I don't have to do that at all! This rasor let's me shave without having to "pre cut" with trimmer, game changer. If this rasor broke tomorrow, I would reorder it tomorrow night! ... show more
