    • Very good cover, but should have a hinge!
I purchased this guard for my retail store to cover the thermostat, which it does quite perfectly. I like the build quality and low profile design, however my only complaint would be with regards to the lack of a hinge between the 2 main parts. Having no hinge is a simple annoyance and my ONLY reason for not rating this product 5 stars. This should be a quick one-handed action to unlock, swing the cover open,..make your thermostat adjustments, swing down to close and lock, period. For the price paid, they should have designed-in a hinge, as well as let the potential buyer know that there's no hinge when reading the product description when deciding to purchase. I can see how a determined person with a flat blade screwdriver could easily separate the cover from the base given this one oversight/flaw in the product design. Seriously, would it have cost any more to make this with a hinge? Okay, I've vented. I'll now step down from my podium and resume life! ... show more

    • Perfect fit
I was worried it would fit. The solid back is removable and it fits perfectly! Super easy to install. I highly recommend you have the basic tools (screwdriver and a cordless drill,small one is fine) for the easiest install could be done without. Took me a total of about 10 mins. (Would of been less had to move the thermostat up just slightly). No issues with the thermostat doing a proper read on the temp. Looks great, nice and clean will fit in with any decor. ... show more

    • It isn't super big over the thermostat
I have a Lux thermostat that is of an older model. This cover fits just right! It isn't super big over the thermostat, while leaving enough space as to not smother it. Installation was easy. 4 screws go into the four corners of the cover. I used a power drill and was done installing within minutes. There is also a wall plate that you would probably use on some models that would go behind the thermostat. I didn't use mine and it wasn't a problem. The lock mechanism seems sturdy. No issues in opening or closing the cover. There are 2 tabs located at the top of the cover that sort of hinge on to the plastic that gets screwed onto the wall. I guess if someone used a small screwdriver they could pry the plastic loose but they would still have to break the entire cover from the lock. Overall, a good product that will keep unauthorized hands at bay from changing temps. ... show more

I've been shopping online for a thermostat guard for my VIP1007 Talking thermostat for weeks and it wasn't easy to find one because of the odd shape of the thermostat. I didn't want the guard to be bulging out too much because some sellers don't state the dimensions, and some are too costly and yet flimsy. When I ran across this model I was impressed by the complete dimensional descriptions which I thought would really fit well my thermostats. So I gave it a shot and ordered one unit. The package arrived and I wasn't disappointed. Product is described well and indeed is a perfect fit. Installation was easy with the provided instruction sheet. The lock and the keys are quality made. The keys(2) won't dislodge from the lock in the open position so that's an added reminder that the cover is still unlocked. The case material looks durable unless it's hammered or pried off the wall. Overall, I'm quite satisfied and you'll never go wrong with Amazon's customer service. I used this to childproof a PetSafe Pawz Away radio fence transmitter. Diameter is approx. 4-3/4" and it centers perfectly on the white inner area of the cover, allowing sliding upwards to remove from the wall for replacement of batteries. The interior height of the cover is actually 5-1/8" in the center. Devices deeper than about 1" intruding into the last 1/2" or so of lower area may interfere with the lock, so that is why there are differing accounts of interior dimensions. Build quality isn't anything special, but plastic is cosmetically nice and clear and strong enough to avoid tampering from a toddler. ... show more

Our young son was changing the temperature so we needed something and this was perfect! We did use the back white piece because thermostat panel would need to come off BUT works great without and can go right over thermostat with no extra construction. Just screw into wall and fit perfectly. And it dosen't look bad at all. Very mimimalist. Plastic is very clear and sleek unlike those used in public place. ... show more
