  • If you want less aggravation in your life do not buy
I’ve only had it installed for a couple days. Not sure why but occasionally I get a black screen. Might be something I’m doing on start up but still checking. 2013 Jeep Wrangler When connecting with a crutch field adapter, be sure to connect the front speakers of the deck to the rear input wires of the adapter or you won’t hear anyone when they phone. The Boss deck only uses front speakers for voice on phone calls and the adapter only uses rear inputs for sound. So if you notice your phone connects but you can’t hear anyone, reverse the speaker front to back and back to front. Connect white deck wiring to green and grey deck to purple. You may not even need to connect any rear speaker outputs as my car/adapter doesn’t use them anyway. Update (1-1/2 weeks in) Still continue to have black screen issues, I believe it’s connected to the Apple CarPlay. It will randomly go black and you can’t control or bring it back without shutting your vehicle off. Oct 31 Deck keeps changing from stereo to mono on its own. Bluetooth says it’s connected but no one can hear me. Apple car play causes black screen and shows connected but they can hear me but I can’t hear them…. This doesn’t happen every time but I’d say 8 out of 10 this happens… it only works correctly about 5 % of the time…. Terrible deck ... show more

  • Works fine
Bought this mostly on price point. Boss doesn’t have the best reputation but after a couple months this has been working reasonably well and I’m pretty happy with it. The UI isn’t great and the support is even worse. I knew having a push button volume rather than rotary would get old and it did but overall I’d buy it again ... show more

  • Not ready for prime time! Freezes and Frustration w/ Android Auto
This is my third Boss stereo - the first two were wired Android Auto. I thought moving to Wireless would remove the headaches that I experienced with the first two, but whoa was i wrong! This thing is just as bad and introduces a whole new world of pain. Through all three of the receivers, I have used stock Google Pixel phones, the latest being a Pixel 7, which i would say largely removes the phone from the issues equation. I drive roughly 35k miles a year for my business and need a reliable means of hands-free mobile communication. Why I haven't moved on, I guess is a testament to my cheapness. With this unit in particular, I literally carry around a pin in my visor to reset the thing multiple times a day. While Android Auto is up and running, the buttons on this thing will freeze. My map is still active, so something is still alive inside this thing, but I have no ability to adjust the volume or interact with the screen. I always know this is happening because the person on the other end of the call will start getting quieter and they can barely hear me. I know there are a few other wonky things that it does, but this one is the most frequent - at least it doesn't squeal like a stuck pig like the last two did. Long story short, I have started a case with Boss. It doesn't appear that this unit is firmware upgradable, so I guess I'm stuck with its 'quirks'. Two stars, cause I guess it sometimes works and hasn't yet started on fire. Look elsewhere. ... show more

  • Nice upgrade for older vehicles
I have a 2013 Tahoe and I really wanted the Apple CarPlay. On top of that I wanted it wireless so I don't have to mess with plugging it in everytime. This unit works in every other way but the wireless CarPlay is quite flaky (plugging in works fine). Sometimes it connects back up, other times it won't. Sometimes it drops the phone completely and you have to pair back. Adding a 2nd phones seems to really confuse it. I always found it odd that these things have bluetooth but thats just for phone features. Taking and making calls but it doesn't have anything to do with how CarPlay is connected. You have to specifically look for th wireless CarPlay feature, otherwise its all USB only. Wireless CarPlay seems to be a fairly new thing. Most of the units I've researched all say that the wireless CarPlay is flaky is one way or another so maybe they just haven't perfected that in the aftermarket world yet. We have a 2022 Silverado with wireless CarPlay and it seems to work flawlessly. ... show more

  • Screen is dim, the dim function stopped working after 4 days
