  • Borla Cat-Back for FRS -- Fantastic Product Highly Recommended
I have owned many muscle cars over the years from 1994 Mustang GT, '05 GTO, '07 SRT8 Charger, '10 SRT Challenger and modified most of those with various aftermarket cat-back exhausts. IMO, the Borla is top notch in terms of quality construction and accuracy of fit when compared to other brands such as Flomaster, etc. Also the stainless material used and the welds are very high quality so I do not foresee any issues with the product lasting for the life of the vehicle. (I do live in the south and while the car sees frequent rain we do not have salted roads in the winter). The fitment is very good and the install is easy-- in fact, out of the many many after market modifications I have installed on my vehicles (everything from brakes to supercharges to intakes, etc) this was by far the easiest. It literally took me longer to set the car up on 4 jack-stands then it did to remove the old exhaust and install new exhaust. You will need to spend a few minutes fiddling with the fitment to get it as even as possible on both sides (in terms of concentricity and protrusion) prior to locking down the clamps, but once fitted properly and the clamps locked down it stays put (I've done maybe 8K or 9k with the exhaust so far and the fitment is good as first day installed). As others mentioned, the tone is much improved: deeper and more resonance (at least as deep as a 4 cylinder can be), and no rasp. Others have mentioned there is some drone at 3-4K but while I do notice this, it is so minor that you get used to it quickly. I would say don't hesitate to buy this unit based on that factor alone. If you want dead quite cruising so you can yack on the cell phone... well, the FRS is not for you anyway. Also note the Borla unit is about 10lbs lighter than stock which is another advantage. I personally would NOT want to go back to driving the stock exhaust on this vehicle, its far too quiet and puny sounding. That said some people might argue the Borla makes your car sound faster than it really is, but who cares? If you're considering an FRS and straight-line acceleration is top on your list, you just don't get what this car is about. Buy it, install it, enjoy it! ... show more

  • Goosebumps never lie!
I bought this for my BRZ Limited after researching all available aftermarket exhausts for about 4-5 months. I heavily research anything that I buy and never rush into a single purchase. For the last month or two of my research I knew that this was the one for me, but still continued research while waiting for the right price and getting excited. For some reason at the top of the product page for this product on Amazon, it seems to say that it does not fit the BRZ Limited trim, but this is false. I was concerned so I emailed Borla directly, and they replied within a couple hours to tell me that this fits all of the current FR-S and BRZ models, so I would be just fine installing it. They were right, because my mechanic was able to install it just as quickly as he removed the stock one. This arrived on my doorstep in 2 days thanks to the Prime shipping. It was very well packaged and all of the parts were easily accounted for. They also threw in a black Borla Exhaust hat/cap, which was nice and fits well too. I was 100% satisfied with the ordering and delivery. I am also 100% satisfied with the exhaust. It is perfect for me because I wanted the deep, throaty sound of the boxer engine that this car absolutely deserves, but I did not want an exhaust that would be too loud, too deep, ricey, or immature sounding. This will not wake up the neighbors as I drive to my 9-5. The sound is smooth and it gives me goosebumps because I am so happy about the way it upgraded the feel of my driving experience. Goosebumps never lie, my friends! I should also quickly comment on drone: of course there is a good, noticeable change in the cabin. It is like I turned up the bass on my soundsystem; I could also say that it is like I am finally driving a true sports car. There are certain rpms between approx 2-4k where there is some cabin resonance, but it is welcomed and only occurs while accelerating. When traveling at a constant speed, whether I am in the city or highway, the car sounds almost exactly like stock ( almost :) ). This is ideal, and proves the Borla quality. I can carry a conversation the same as before installing it, and still listen to music/radio just the same. I am extremely satisfied with the Borla brand, and I would recommend them to anyone. Thanks Borla and Amazon! ... show more

  • Sounds great, lightweight simple install.
I ordered this from Amazon and had it delivered to a local shop. They installed it for 60 bucks. The guy installing it remarked on how much lighter and easier to work with the Borla catback vs stock. One of the sleeves on the exhaust tips didn't fit over the exit pipe correctly. He had to tap the exhaust sleeve so that it would fit correctly. The other side fit over fine and didn't need it. I really like the double sleeve exhaust tip and the Borla logo on the tip. Looks so nice. You can really hear these @ 4000 rpm and you will get burble and pop although not at every gear (so far, just after the first gear above 4k shifts). Higher than 4k and the engine's induction noise seems to drown out the exhaust. The shop said wait to see if this changes. The only drawback I could see was the odd placement of the muffler halfway up the car. This sounds nothing like stock and you will not forget this upgrade. With some upgrades you forget what it was like before the upgrade. You definitely will not have that problem with this. Looks and sounds so much better than stock exhaust. An odd benefit of this exhaust is that shifting becomes easier. At low rpms it's sometimes hard to tell how much throttle you're giving the transmission. With the Borla you can hear exactly how much throttle you've got on and low rpm shifting (ie parking lot driving) improves as a result. Weird but that's what happened to me. ... show more
