I have a counter/island with an overhang for stools. I don’t plan to use stools and decided to see how this would work under the overhang. It works great! Comes out maybe 2 inches further than overhand and I can’t use the top shelve but it’s perfect for my cookbooks on one shelf, and games on the other for when my grandson comes over. I was really impressed with the expensive look of the wood shelves. Also, it wasn’t hard to put together; I was able to do it alone. If you’re needing some extra shelving, I recommend checking this unit out. It’s not real sturdy but I think with heavy items, like books, it would be fine. Box came very well protected. The end legs came as a set - no assembly which means that the only think I had to do was screw in the shelves - 4 screws. It did come with the tool to use on the screws, but I opted for a bit adapter on my electric drill to speed up the process. It took 10 minutes to assemble, probably double that with the hand tool. Love the look of this. Color is perfect. I wanted 4 shelves, but it was too wide. Had husband cut down shelves to fit and found they ar hollow MDF, which shouldn't be a problem for him to make adjustments.
